Router 10r2 Lab 1.2
A. The Interfaces that can be classifies as serial interfaces in Router 10R2 are as Follows a. Serial 1/0 b. Serial 1/1 c. Serial 1/2

B. The network end of the V.35 adapter cable provides a standard 34-pin Winchester- type connector. V.35 cables are available with a standard V.35 plug or receptacle in either DTE or DCE mode. V.35 Adapter Cable Connectors, Network End Yes by visual inspection of a v.35 cable with a Winchester connector, we can tell that the Male cable connects to a DTE and the Female cable connects to a DCE. Here the cables with pins is referred as male and cable without pins is referred as Female C. High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI) is a short-distance communications interface that

Standard protocol is not router specific. It also gives some authentication at different layer. HDLC (High-Level Data Link Control) does not support any kind of authentication. It is personalized, router-specific protocol. It cannot be used toconnect routers of different vendors. So if traffic analyzer may not recognize Cisco’s HDLC than it might not be compatible with this protocol.

2. The Supervisory frame(S-frame) and Unnumbered (U-frame) frame are the two frames of HDLC Protocol
Supervisory frameis used for flow and error control. Contain send / receive sequence numbers
Unnumbered frameis used for various rare purpose that includes link management (Link setup and disconnection). Some U-frame contains an information field. Such a frames do not contain in Acknowledgement information(No Sequence no.s).

3. Packet format of PPP.

Description:

Flag: Indicates the start of a PPP frame. Always has the value “01111110” binary (0x7E hexadecimal, or 126 decimal).

Address: In HDLC this is the address of the destination of the frame. But in PPP we are dealing with a direct link between two devices, so this field has no

Being made up of various parts each layer has a unique function in the network. Additionally, each layer incorporates things to the data which is transmitted from one point to the other. The protocols which work on this layer are HDLC, PPP as well as the frame relay protocol. HDLC protocol means High-Level Data Link Control protocol. An additional protocol which works on layers of the OSI model is the Point-to-Point protocol (PPP) that is just like HDLS protocol. The frame relay protocol works at the data links layer of the OSI model (Cisco, 2008).…

Complete the entries in Table 4- 1. Use your textbook and Internet research to compose your answer. The common connector for interfacing UTP wires to a computer for networking is the Registered Jack 45 ( RJ- 45) interface. This uses eight copper wires ( four twisted pairs) to complete the connection between interfaces. The pinout for these wires defines the order in which the individual wires connect to the network interface card and how the wires transition from one end of the cable to the other. A straight cable is used to connect a device to a network hub or switch. This type of cable does not change the wiring…

Instead, it can select the reference frame prior to the corrupted picture whenever feedback information is received. One form of reference picture selection can be demonstrated in Fig. 4.11, it shows the transmission of frames 1 through 9. The encoder prediction is indicated by the use of curved arrows in the figure. In this concept, the most recent frame is usually utilized as the reference frame for motion-compensation prediction. However, if frame 4 gets corrupted by packet loss, the decoder immediately signals a negative acknowledgement (NACK) message to the encoder about the error. This informs the encoder that frame number 4 is damaged, and that all subsequent frames are prone to error propagation. In this regard, the encoder then selects the most recent frame known to be correctly received (frame 3 in this figure) as a reference for the encoding of the next frame, which is frame 6. Round Trip Time (RTT) determines the required amount of time for the prediction structure to be altered, and consequently determines the number of frames that will be affected by the error propagation…
