Someone once said, “who said you can’t let people scare you. You can’t go your whole life trying to please everyone else. You can’t go through life worried about what everyone else is going to think. Whether it’s your hair, clothes, what you have to say, how you feel, what you believe and what you have. You can’t let the judgment of others stop you from being you. Because if you do, you're no longer you. You're someone everyone else wants you to be.” Nobody thought that Seabiscuit was good enough to race but in reality they just did not understand him. “Your majesty.” Catherine shot a glance up at her grandmother-in-law, but then looked away, unable to meet the Queen's piercing eyes. The 143 year old was seven feet tall, her neck downwards surrounded by a dark synthetic body suit. Her face was a wrinkled prune and her eyes replaced by black artificial beads. “I think you know why I'm here.” Catherine said. The queen's smile had vanished. She said nothing. “You have reigned for over one hundred years.”…

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the word monster is defined as an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening. But is that what our modern day society really believes a monster is? Through time what people expect to see in a monster has changed. When you think of how people originally thought of aliens and vampires, you realize it’s a lot different than what we think of them today. Originally vampires were thought of being a corpse that would leave its grave at night and feed off the living by biting their necks. They weren’t able to be exposed to the sunlight or be in the sight of garlic. The idea of vampires have been around for millions of years and they have always represented something very horrifying.…

In the early 1900s, an archaeologist and scholar by the name of Sir Arthur Evans discovered the Palace of King Minos. After Crete claimed its independence, Evans purchased five acres of hilly land, which he and his assistants began to excavate. This project kept his attention for about thirty years. In this period of time, he and his team made many discoveries that are related to the epic poems of Greece, and Evans discoveries contributed to history and literature.…

Have you ever asked Santa Claus for a puppy for Christmas? A sweet, four legged beauty who pitter patters his little puppy paws down the hallway as you toss him a bone? If so, the chances the pet has come from a puppy mill is more than likely. When somebody buys from a pet store, they are supporting the evil, inhumane process that goes on in puppy mills. If one truly cared about their barking furry friends, adopting is the way to go. Adopting your pet always has a positive outcome; little do most people know, dogs who reside in animal shelters for long periods of time usually have a death timer ticking away. Adopting that Pitbull shaking in the corner would tremendously impact his life, since it was scheduled to peacefully end within the next twelve hours. When you buy from pet stores, you are supporting puppy mills and simultaneously never letting a dog in the shelter…

I’d like to begin by quoting Captain Paul Watson, “If you want to know where you would have stood on slavery before the Civil War, don't look at where you stand on slavery today. Look at where you stand on animal rights.” Throughout my presentation I ask that you keep these questions in mind: Is slavery no longer slavery when its not happening to humans? Is abuse not abuse if it isn't happening to your species? And, is murder not considered murder when its not happening to someone like you? If I ask all of you if you love animals, most of you would say yes. Yet its because of people like you that animals like pigs, cows, and chickens suffer and take knives to the neck every second of every minute of every day. Humans have victimized animals so much, that they aren't even considered victims anymore. We have turned living, feeling, breathing beings into inanimate objects such as shoes, and sandwiches. Every year on this planet 60 billion land and 90 billion marine animals are slaughtered without a second thought to feed the greed of humans. In the United States alone, there are more than 5,000 trucks carrying animals to slaughter houses where they will be hung upside down, and while fully conscience, have a bullet put between their eyes or have a knife slash their neck, all in order to feed a group of ungrateful humans who don't even need it for survival. Out of all the abused animals on this planet 98% of them are victims of the meat, egg, and dairy companies. If you consume animals, and the things that come out of animals, you are intentionally causing pain, and suffering. I find it unbelievable how a species that claims to know the difference from right…
