Rumpelstiltskin Point Of View
Good afternoon, my name is Rumpelstiltskin. Get settled down, cause I’m about to tell you the story of the time someone finally guessed my name. I was just walking around the village when I heard terrible sobbing. So I go over there and see what’s up. I look through the window and see this girl crying in a room full of straw with a spinning wheel. I ask her what’s wrong and she explains to me that her father told the king that she could turn straw into gold. I told her I could do it, but I would need something in return. So she hands me her necklace and I start doing my magic. I work all night to get that room full of straw spun. I’m walking again and I hear more crying. You’ll never guess who was crying. Anyways, she offers me a ring to spin a room full of straw that was even larger than the last one. So I do it without complaining because I know she’ll run out of stuff to pay me with eventually. I’m walking around again and, big surprise, guess who’s crying. I go into the room and ask her what she’ll pay me. She says she had nothing else, so I tell her that I need her firstborn child. She agrees and I’m off to work again. All night again! How am I supposed to get any sleep? A year passes and the girl ends up getting pregnant. So when the baby is born I walk into the room and demand it. I never complained about the previous work because I knew the baby would be mine. She offered me all of the riches in the kingdom, but I wanted the baby. But I had pity for her, so I gave her 3 days to guess my name so she could keep her baby, but I doubt she would have guessed it. My only mistake was the night before her last try. I started dancing around and was shouting my name and I guess that one of her spies was nearby. The spy reported back to the queen and she acted stupid at first, but then she shot me down and guessed my name. I got pretty angry. I stomped my foot and it got stuck in the ground. And then I tried to tear it out of the ground and ended up ripping myself in two. So I changed my name to Bad luck Brian after that.

I find Professor Parker's essay very helpful and illuminating. Napo- leon's decision to invade Russia against the almost unanimous advice of his closest counsellors presents an intriguing and important puzzle to which Parker provides a persuasive psychological explanation. Finding much in the essay to agree with and little to criticize nor- mally poses a problem for a commentator, but Professor Parker has invited me to range freely in my comments. I will take advantage of this freedom to propose not a different causal explanation of Napoleon's decision, but instead a different characterization and understanding of Napoleon's foreign policy in the context of the international system.…

Into the Woods stars many fairytale characters from different backgrounds, those being Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, Jack (Jack and the Beanstalk), his mother, Little Red Riding Hood, The Baker, his wife, and the Witch. In Act 1, the narrator starts with a classic story introduction, Once Upon a Time.…

Examining textbooks printed prior to 1991 helps to define the differences that arose in theories of the causes, process, and outcomes of the reforms. Hugh Seton-Watson’s textbook The Russian Empire 1801-1917 published in 1967 devotes a chapter to the topic of the reforms. He argues that one of the problems that determined the reforms’ outcome was Alexander II’s own conflicting philosophies and the contradictory liberal and conservative influences that surrounded him. Therefore the reforms did not go fare enough because of these conflicting influences on the state’s design of the reforms. He theorizes that this is why “the 1861 settlement was no solution to the peasant question: it created more problems than it solved, and difficulties piled…

    The Raskolnikov's Dream

Raskolnikov’s dream about the mare provides insight into his inner thoughts and emotions. The dream proposes the idea of Raskolnikov having ‘split’ personalities (or is a ‘split’ man). The whole dream had two main voices, which fits Raskolnikov’s two personalities. Half of the townspeople showed sympathy while the other half wanted to see it die. Furthermore, other characters in the book can also be ‘matched’ to a certain character in the dream. For example, Raskolnikov can portray the child, Mikolka, and the mare. If Raskolnikov played as Mikolka, the drunken owner of the mare, then the character that would best represent the mare is Alyona Ivannovna. The brutal beatings of the mare by Mikolka can be compared to the sadistic on Alyona by…
