Run UP: Takbo Para sa Atletang Elbi 2013

A fun run with the theme “Run UP: Takbo para sa Atletang Elbi” was held at University of the Philippines Los Banos last September 7, 2013. The event had three main run categories: 10 k, 5 k, and 3k. The event started at roughly 5:30 to 6:00 am and ended at about 9 am. Teachers and students of the university joined the event together with some guests. I personally enjoyed the same event. At first, I thought that it would be boring because it’s not my intention to join rather it’s a requirement but when my friends and I started running it was a fun experience. During the first steps of the run, my legs and feet felt the ache immediately. It hardened. After a few minutes, I felt exhausted so my friends and I started to rest and walk for few minutes. We continued the routine run, rest, walk and then run again, rest, walk so on and so forth. As we rest or walk, we made sure that we were enjoying each other’s company. We even made motivations to finish the race as for example: “Tara na guys! Takbo pa! kaya natin to! Isipin na lang natin na naghihintay sa finish line yung uno natin sa CHEM 16!” – one of my friends stated. As we got closer and closer to the finish line, I felt a heart-warming experience. I thought I couldn’t make it but when I passed through the finish line, I felt the satisfaction and joy that I was able to do something I had never done before.
In conclusion, the fun run was an amusing, spectacular, and unforgettable event.

“We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.” This is the mission of the Girls on the Run organization and they strive to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development in girls from the ages of eight to thirteen years old. Their main objective is to educate and empower these girls at their early ages in order to prevent the display of at-risk activities such as alcohol abuse, eating disorders, pre-marital sexual activity, depression, suicide, and other confrontational behavior in the future. The organization is growing rapidly around the United States and Canada; State College being the next site to create a program location. However, Girls on the Run is not currently well-known in the area so our current objective is to raise awareness to the young girls and their parents.…

There were many times I wanted to quit or give up but I didn’t even though I really wanted to at points. I remember the last three meets, they were the best. They were in Shenandoah, Atlantic, then Clarinda. Shenandoah was my favorite course i'm not sure why maybe it was the trees and the paths we had to run of were fun, it was shady most of the places and filled with plants and trees on a dirt path. At Atlantic it was pouring rain all day and when it came time for the middle schoolers to run it was muddy and people were falling at the start, everyone got super muddy and wet. Then in Clarida it was the last meet and I was super nervous right when we got there I knew it was gonna be hard. When we walked part of the course there were corn fields and trees on the outside of it. When we got up to the start I was nervous I said I saw scared for the other ones well this one was 10 times worse but the gun went off and we ran and finished, then it was over. The season went fast, it was long but fast at the same time. It was fun scary, hard, but…

It is really a special day to see all these runners participate in this Red legs Run. It shows how strong and supportive the Red Leg community and that there is always opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our youth. I projected that this race would hopefully raise 50,000$dollars. Ladies and Gentlemen. Today we have already raised over $180,000 and that number is continuing to rise. This number is unprecedented and I want to personally thank all of the sponsors and participants for helping us achieve our goal of 50,000. This money will be incorporated into the Red's community fund. This money will fund some of our outreach programs. Outreach programs include the Reds Rookie Success League, a free, coed, character-building program for 6-12 year olds in Greater Cincinnati. It will also fund Youth Baseball and Softball Funding, which underwrites expenses for more than 400 inner-city teams throughout Reds Country. Also, it will aid in Renovations of multiple baseball fields. The funds from this Red Leg Run will help restore over 325 baseball and softball…

The purpose of this paper is to help me to fully understand and expand my knowledge of the concepts four in our textbook. By performing research about recent business world activities, I will be able to link the terms learned in the lecture in order to get the full picture. Although I chose terms that are found in both chapter 6 and chapter 7, most of my terms come from chapter 7, which talks about corporate strategy. Our textbook Strategic Management and Business Policy textbook by Thomas L. Wheelen and J. David Hunger is a great source of information for anyone interested in learning more about business. According to our textbook, the three key issues that corporate strategy deals with are:…

The program is provided as an after or before school group in schools and community setting throughout Northern Colorado. My class and I took a few pictures before the race and we stretched a lot. A few minutes passed by and we had to get in our starting positions. So the race was about to start and there was hundreds of people around me and I was still a little nervous. The guy shot the gun up and I sprinted through many people. About half way through the first mile I slowed down and walked for a bit. Someone came up to me and said to at least jog. So I started jogging and I did that for about a mile and a half. Once it came to the second mile there was water cups, I grabbed two dumped one on my face and the other I drank. Since there was so many people I didn’t even know what place I was in or even how far I was. I was getting really tired but I hung in and sprinted the rest of the way. I could hear the crowd cheering so I ran like Forest Gump to get to the finish line. There was a timer when I crossed and it was about 35 minutes total and I finished.…

“Every day is a good day when you run.” Kevin Nelson, who wrote The Runner's Book of Daily Inspiration, could not have been envisioning the mercurial weather of Rhode Island. As a three-sport athlete in Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track, there is a certain commitment that one must have to be able to compete year-long in New England. Runners will often sugarcoat their feelings about running by saying it’s thrilling, satisfying and even fun. Although it can be personally fulfilling, it takes a lot of hard work, determination and perseverance to be an accomplished runner.…

I used to gag at the thought of running eight hundred meters. There I stood with my heart racing, ready to run five kilometers. To everyone else, this was an unimportant meet that even the coach said he did not care about. It was for me, however, more terrifying than losing my mom in the grocery store when I was a child. My first meet and all I could think of was my speed or lack thereof. I did not have distance spikes. I did not have a muscle roller. All I had was my heart in my throat paired with running shoes. Since the day before, my blood pressure had been rising and continued to do so.…

At Newport High School, all freshmen are required to run four miles as part of the mandatory physical education class. This acts as a measure of improvement in the students’ stamina and speed after two and a half months of training and conditioning in winter. The aim of this exercise is to run 16 laps around the track at Newport, with each lap being counted as it was completed with a popsicle stick. Students are graded through a rubric including total time taken, number of laps completed, and whether or not a student walks. This assignment accounts for 10% of all students’ grades in the class, making it the most important task of the entire year.…
