The Yalta conference in 1945 was the meeting of President Theodore Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Premier Joseph Stalin. To sum it up simply they came to an agreement that Russia was to help the European countries get back onto their feet and then allow them to choose whether they wanted to stay communist or try to govern themselves. Stalin however had other ideas. Poland being one of the countries not in too good of a condition Stalin decided to move Russian militia into the country.
