safe to assume that the’re are many religions that correspond with these various ethnicities. Majority of Russians correspond with Eastern Orthodox(christian). Though Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism are also practiced.
Have you ever wondered why in Russian movies one area looks cold and ramshackle looking? If so then you have seen a siberian city. A siberian city is the reality of living in the far east of Russia. The thing about Russia is that each city reflects that cities culture. For example Kazan has a strong Tartar heritage and it reflects that. Therefore Kazan is the capital of Republic of Tatarstan.
Within these Russian cities you have families these families don’t differ from the rest of the world.
They have the typical mother/father that go to work. They also have the children that go to school(where they typically learn English and other languages) to prepare them for university. Then there is the Babushka, the Russian grandmother, that fills the role of wise woman, curator of memories and traditions, and baker of favorite comfort foods.
As stated earlier Russian families do not drastically differ from the rest of the world. Is it possible that their food does? Yes, indeed it is very possible because their food is comforting. They like to focus on many different things while cooking. One being the richness of their ingredients. Two being their flavors they use. The flavors they used are flavors favored over the generations.
Speaking of generations Russias’ achievements over time have also become their holidays. Holidays like Victory Day and International Women's Day have a special emphasis for Russia. For instance Cosmonaut Day celebrates Russia's achievements in space exploration.Russians celebrate the standard western holidays like Christmas and New Years. Though New Years for them seems like a Christmas for us. During New Years they like to decorate fir-trees, hide presents for each other underneath them, make fireworks, cook delicious meals, set the table and celebrate in the joyous company of family and
friends.
A gift that can be given during this celebration is the famous Russian nesting dolls. Russian nesting dolls are a series of hand painted wooden dolls. The largest contains the next in size which in turns opens to reveal the next and so forth. A set of Russian nesting dolls usually come in a set of 6. These roughly a century old pieces of art have become the universal symbol of Russia. They represent Russias’ beauty and how each generation gets better but I digress.
