The ACT and SAT are standardized test that are supposed to test how well a student did in high school. The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science. The writing part is optional, if the student decides to take the writing part, it costs more. The SAT is a similar test that test a student’s academic skills used for admission to United States’ colleges. Neither the SAT nor the ACT should be a requirement, because they do not test a person’s intelligence, but test how well students can study, and take tests.
The SAT and ACT takes up a lot of time of a student’s senior year. The year that they are supposed to enjoy the most because after they graduate, they have officially entered the real world. A student may not be great at taking test, but they may be a great and smart student. The school that they applied to will never know that though, only because they were going off of their test scores, and they do not get accepted. SAT and ACT should not be required because it does not evaluate how smart you are, and it takes a lot of time away from other important things.

Studying for the SAT and ACT, is like trying to remember everything you have learned in a year. In college, there are midterms, and finals. Midterms are test that test students on the first half of the semester, and finals are test for the other half of the semester. So you do not have to study for everything that you learned in a semester. You also have to learn technique on how to strategize, and do well on the test.
