However, in the past three years sales have been down and the company is suffering. The women’s clothing industry has become very price sensitive and over 50% of the products are bought on sale or at a discount. This is not good for the Harrington Collection because they are a higher priced company. His proposed that they introduce a new line of clothing which would focus on less-expensive active-wear. The active-wear market has grown a lot in the past few years so there is a lot of room for opportunity.…

    2) Heather’s efforts to date could be described as uninspiring. Although she clearly has passion for clothing design her management efforts to this point have been haphazard and do not particularly inspire confidence from prospective investors. Heather did not perform any significant market research for her product aside from what appears to be casual conversation with women over the years. Her almost hiring and subsequent breakup with potential Pattern-maker Barbra Tarpe, based on a phone-call as well as her store rental switch reveal a knee jerk reactionary character without comprehensive or long term considerations of the impact of her decisions. Her approach towards acquiring finance also is unsettling as the consideration of so many varied sources of funds at this late stage display a lack of coherent vision as to the structure of the company.…

Clothing has been lately an aspect of concern for the company, as sales of clothing have “slipped back for the ninth consecutive quarter”, (The Guardian, 2013). This has created a 9.1% fall in half-year profit. For this reason, according to M&S Chief Executive, they are currently working on having “more innovation and choice than ever before”, (Bolland, 2013). However, according to retail analyst for the BBC, “The company is too risk averse and is unwilling to break the mould of its traditional ways of doing business”, (Conlumino, 2013).…

This report is about ZARA which is a global brand of clothing owned by the Inditex Group. It is the world's third-clothing retailer, one of the world's four major fashion chain (the other three are the United States of casual fashion giant GAP, the Swedish fashion giant H & M, German parity giant clothing chain C & A), has more than 2,000 stores in 70 countries around the world. It was established in 1975 by Spanish fashion designer and tycoon Amancio Ortega. The first store opened in Galicia, Spain, where it is now headquartered. The company is very unusual in the fashion retail world and incorporates many pioneering concepts. The company takes just two weeks to get its products on its store shelves after designing them, compared with six months for its competitors. It does not advertise, preferring instead to use money on opening new stores. Zara also owns and controls every stage of production from design, manufacture, supply and sales. A Louis Vuitton spokesperson described it as “possibly the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world”. (Baidu.com 22, June, 2012)…

Meerza’s Tailoring Fashion house has been in the marketplace for more than 10 years. She started in Paris from “bricks and mortar” studio and has grown her business to gain an award for Best Female Entrepreneur in France. She offers specially made suits, mostly for senior executives, at €750 per suit, which is considered a fair price in Paris. As the business was growing, she employed staff in London, Paris and Brussels to facilitate fabrication and delivery. The online-service she’s providing should simplify and fasten the process of taking measures and making orders, however it often does not. The customers unsatisfied with the service and thinking their clothes are neither specially-made, nor made properly so they fit well, post complaints which hurt the image and the reputation of the retailer.…
