Sacrafice
All People have heard the saying “you will always sacrifice for the one’s whom you love”. And I truly believe that; love and sacrifice is a big part of what makes up a relationship. There are the sacrifices love, the sacrifice of Christ, and the sacrifice that is put into place during a life or death situation.
The first type of sacrifice is to surrender for the one’s you love. To sacrifice something for someone your love has to be strong. For example, in the story “The Gift of the Magi”, both the woman and the man give up something they had for one another. The woman sacrificed her hair to give buy her husband a watch chain, and the man gave up his watch to purchase the woman some combs. Even though this story ended ironically,

The Gift of the Magi shows many ironic aspects. How Della adores her hair, thinking so highly that no queen jewels could ever match the beauty of her hair. Or how Jim thinks his watch is so priceless that no king could ever have such a jewel, but when wanting to show their affection to one another they sell their priceless jewels just to find out that they each sold their priceless jewels to get something for one another. One a comb for the now missing hair, the other a golden chain for the now sold watch.…

Beatitude means “blessing” or “promise” of true happiness. They are stepping stones on the path to the kingdom of heaven. The beatitude I choose to discuss is “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied”. The parable that I chose with this beatitude is “The Good Samaritan”. This message is relevant to today’s society because if ever you see somebody hurt in public and nobody is helping them, you should be the good person and help them.…

A simple definition of the word sacrifice is to give up a cherished possession for the sake of something better, whether it is for another human life, for protection, or even for religious beliefs. The act of sacrificing dates all the way back to more than 200,000 years ago during the times of the Homo sapiens, to the ancient greek mythologies, and all the way up to the 1950s throughout the life of Martin Luther King. Sacrificing something for the belief of a better life has always been present as human beings evolved, as well as how they perform it.…

“Sacrifice is a part of life. It’s supposed to be. It’s not something to regret. It’s something to aspire to.” (Mitch Albom) Both Della and Jim sacrifice something they love deeply for an even deeper love, each other. Della sacrificed her hair and would have “mocked it at her Majesty’s jewels and gifts” (Henry, 99) if she could, it was that valuable to her. But she loved her husband so much she gave her hair up just for him. On the other hand, Jim had a family watch that was so precious to him that if “King Solomon been a janitor … Jim would have pulled out his watch every time he passed … to see him [King Solomon] pluck his beard from envy.” (Henry, 99) Della and Jim loved each other so much they gave up their most beloved items.…

The person in the novel, who epitomises the theme of sacrifice, is Kihika, the past leader of the Movement. Kihika is, for better or worse, the leader most associated with the Christian qualities including sacrifice. Although at first he merely thinks of himself as a saint and a leader, he later talks, and is talked about, in clearly Christ-like terms. General R, for example, refers to Kihika's death, as a "crucifixion". Kihika believes in sacrifice for the greater good of national liberation, and regards it as Christ-like. This is emphasised when Kihika says, "I die for you, you die for, we become a sacrifice for one another."…

In essence the sacrifice satisfies this purpose by taking on the role of scapegoat. Such "scapegoating" can take on one of two forms. This is the more mythical and religious. The sacrificial victim is offered as a target for the God's wrath which otherwise would be suffered by the followers. The second, involves the idea of blame, in such a case the community believes that the sacrificial victim is to blame for some unwanted state of affairs. Thus in order to eliminate the cause of the situation they must make the sacrifice.…

There are times that we have to give in to something which is not what we want so someone gets the pleasure of having the desire of his or her heart. We sacrifice our own satisfaction so someone can get what he or she wants and that is love. To sacrifice in the name of love is an effort that is not expecting something in return, it gives the delight that what you have done filled a missing ingredient of your day. Sometimes I wanted to watch something on TV but my brother want something else; giving in to his choice would give me more pleasure than insisting mine and break his heart.…
