Even more, the city’s parking chief, Matt Eierman, stated, “bout 2,000 motorists had prepaid reservations for parking spots in downtown garages. Lines appeared to be short as cars waited to enter. The system seems to be running pretty well” (Kasler and Bizjak, 2016). In the King’s first regular season game in the Golden 1 center, the Kings suffered a 102-94 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Despite the loss, 17,500 strong, in a sea of purple shirts, cheered, “There’s no place like home” (Davidson, 2016)
It is still too early to tell whether the will Golden 1 center will garner a substantial return on investment (ROI). Perhaps the best way to answer the question is by reviewing the financial goals of the Golden 1 center. According to FAQ’s (Golden 1 center, 2016):
Golden 1 Center is a big win for Sacramento and its future. The project reflects a $477 million investment in downtown Sacramento. It is sustaining thousands of jobs during construction and will support hundreds of permanent new quality jobs. Additionally, the development will deliver new sales, utility and property taxes that help support critical municipal services. It not only makes sense for Golden 1, it makes sense for the region.
In response to whether the Golden 1 center will impact Golden 1’s
