We are able to grow in worship of God by receiving the Eucharist. This is seen as the Eucharist replenishes Baptism, “The eucharistic sacrifice nourishes and increases within us all that we have already received at Baptism, with its call of happiness” (Sacrementum Caritatis Paragraph 79). We are also affected by the Eucharist in our everyday life by receiving inspiration from the strength of the sacrament. This enables us to have strength to live out our vocations to the fullest. Paragraph 80 focuses on the relationship between the Eucharist and the priesthood. The purpose of the priesthood is to take up Christ’s cross and be united with the Eucharist. The Eucharist must be the priority of the priest, “He is called to seek god tirelessly, while remaining attuned to the concerns of his brothers and sisters. An intense spiritual life will enable him to enter more deeply into common with the Lord” (Sacrementum Caritatis Paragraph 80). Paragraph 81 is about the Eucharist and the consecrated life.
