The guidelines I will establish are:
1. Proper Attire
Clothing should be stretchy, sporty and close fitting without being tight. If a student has long hair, they should be encouraged to have it pulled back and secured to protect the student during asanas. Students should be in bare feet to prevent slipping. There should be an area just inside the studio door where students should leave their shoes.
2. Foods and Drink
Students should always arrive at class well hydrated, and to bring water with them as well. Teach them to avoid large meals before class, so that it will prevent stomach upset and pain.
3. Purses, Bags and Other Personal Items
Personal belongings should not be allowed on the studio floor unless they are necessary for yoga practice. Having unnecessary clutter in the classroom presents a tripping hazard.
4. Be in tune with your body, no suffering. …show more content…
Students should use their time in yoga class time to listen to their bodies. One of the goals in yoga is to reduce suffering. That means paying attention to the physical sensations in our bodies, and watching for good ones and bad ones. Good sensations are: feeling a mild muscle stretch, shaking, trembling, sweating, or the heart rate elevating. These sensations for most of us are okay, and a symbol that we’re building strength. Bad sensations include: a stabbing pain, throbbing pain, aching pain, burning, tingling, pressure in the face or throat, gasping, or shortness of breath. These are signals that we need to back off or try something else. Only you are in your body, and only you know what sensations you’re feeling to determine if they are good or bad
