Roles and Responsibilities of agencies in Safeguarding Children
We all have a responsibility in Safeguarding and Protecting children and every child should be kept safe. Safeguarding children is a "multi-agency" organisation. Statutory organisations that work with children have a duty under Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 to ensure their functions are discharged with regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
What is safeguarding?
It might be difficult to accept, but every child can be hurt, put at risk of harm or abused, regardless of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity.
Safeguarding legislation and government guidance says that safeguarding means: protecting children from maltreatment preventing impairment of children’s health or development ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care. taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome and “the action we take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm - is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.”
The following are the roles of (Doctors, Nurses, Police, Teachers, Social Services, Senco, Nursery Practitioner, Health Visitors, Parents, LSA, Council, Physiotherapist, Speech Therapist, Hospital Consultant and Child Physiologist) in Safeguarding Children.
Task 2.4
FIRES
Regular testing of the fire alarms take place every six weeks at the School. The log book is kept by the head teacher, this is available to any visiting fire officer.
Fire instructions are clearly posted in all classrooms, offices and corridors. Also emergency exits are clearly signed.
There are always at least 2 fire exits in each classroom. In the event of raising the alarm the glass will need to be broken in one of the many alarms allocated around the school. It is the responsibility of
