Safety in the Work Place
As far as being Jason being the safety coordinator he is responsible for making the work place a safe place. He was not concerned with the risks of the accumulated wood dust in the work place. His ethical and moral obligation for the employees was not of any value to him. He did not think it was necessary to investigate the situation any further. He had more of a passive approach with dealing with the situation.
The area manager seemed more of the greater good for the company and not for the employee’s safety. He would rather but others life is at risk just keeping up with the production that the company had to maintain.
Karen seemed like she wanted to take the easy way out without having to deal with the consequences of being disloyal to the company. She did not reach out for help or try to find a way to resolve this problem. When submitting a claim with OSHA they do not let the employer know who submitted the claim it is there obligation to be strictly confidential (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
The owner Tony has no respect, concern about safety or health issue when it comes to his employees. He has a moral and ethical obligation to protect his employees in the work environment.
After I have gone through all the proper channels of reporting this situation from the safety coordinator, area manager and the owner then I would report the situation to someone that could help. I would then report this situation to the occupational safety and health administration also known as OSHA. The reason why I would report this to them is because I feel that the work place is not safe and is hazards to fellow co-workers and myself. The standards of the occupational safety and health administration are not being in forced at this company and breaking the law.
It would be unethical and unjustifiable for me not to report this situation due to it can cost every one there life. On the other hand, if they threaten to harm my family or telling my co-workers

I think that Sam should have stopped the man and talked to him, sometimes that’s all it takes to change a bad situation and prevent future violence.
