Saint Cecilia is the patroness of musicians and Church music. She became the saint of music because as she was dying, she sang to God. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she “sang in her heart to the Lord.” St. Cecilia was an only child. Her feast day is celebrated on November 22nd. She was believed to be a lady of Rome who, with her husband Valerian, his brother Tiburtius, and a Roman soldier Maximus, suffered martyrdom in about 230 C.E., under the Emperor Alexander Severus. Before she died, Cecilia arranged to have her home preserved as a church. They attempted to execute her three times, but did not succeed until Cecilia had received Holy Communion. She survived another three days before succumbing
