Introduction

We are witnessing an era when users buy mobile phones not just to be in touch, but to express themselves, their attitude, feelings & interests. Customers continuously want more from their phone. They use their cellular phones to play games, read news headlines, surf the Internet, keep a tab on astrology, and listen to music, make others listen to their music, or check their bank balance.

Thus, there exists a vast world beyond voice that needs to be explored and tapped and the entire cellular industry is heading towards it to provide innovative options to their customers. moBulk is a standard self-customized electronic Short Messaging Service (SMS) that is remotely controlled and managed via a user’s desktop or laptop computer. Backed up by the mobili-T Application Suite Enterprise Server at our end, it is an ideal web-based messaging tool for those who need to send bulk messages to fixed groups of contacts regularly. Any text sent as SMS is displayed on the LED screens of the GSM/CDMA mobile phones of selected recipients.

As the solution is distributed over the Internet, you can access it as and when you need it, for business purposes or for personal usage, be it at a Board meeting or during a vacation. You just need to have access to Internet. moBulk is available in both desktop and online versions.

After completing the registration process, individuals need to only log in and start sending messages. Retail enterprises may opt for an Application Programming Interface (API), which is one way to connect to mobili-T's core SMS platform.

moDus1, a 1-way Database Uplinked SMS application, is a versatile SMS suite to process and send data in a complex database environment via SMS transactions. moDus1 acts as a virtual mobile operator for data communication services by seamlessly accessing any type of client Relational Data Base Management System to send mission-critical messages to designated mobile ‘phones. How Does moDus1works?

moDus2

moDus2 is a versatile SMS suite to send, receive and process data in a complex database environment via SMS transactions. moDus2 acts as a virtual 2-way mobile operator for data communication services. Any type of client Relational Data Base Management System is seamlessly accessed to send mission-critical messages to designated mobile phones, triggered by preset need-specific queries received from these phones. Thus, a member of the target audience may query the enterprise database through SMS. This query is processed on the enterprise server and the response then returned to him through SMS.

moDus2 can be configured to link up with all kinds of computer databases, including Excel, FoxPro and also Oracle/SAP ERP databases. The specific data can be drawn either directly from the databases or from a “Specific View” of an ERP database, if required. The required data can then be sent in a secure /encrypted format to the client mobile phones.

Depending on the customer’s needs, moDus2 could be configured to handle specific types of alerts that the client will need to send or specific types of queries that the client expects from the enquirers. Alerts or responses from the client database will then be reported via moDus2 to a customer/recipient mobile phone.

All customizations are integrated with any backend applications, strictly adhering to the customers' security guidelines. Customizations will cater to any degree of complexity of the client database. As the products can be operated largely in an unattended mode, the time and effort spent in its operation is minimal. Both automated and manual modes are supported. Incoming SMS at the client end can be received on a GSM modem or a virtual mobile number (a standard ten-digit or a short-code) configured on mobili-T Server.

FAQ

When there's “MSN/Yahoo-Messengers”, what's so great about Mobili-T?

The MSN/Yahoo-Messengers (or others like them) offer only limited SMS services that have to go out in Real Time and, also, can not link seamlessly to any databases. The lowest-end Mobili-T Bulk-SMS application offers Pre-scheduled SMS with “Flash” or normal text modes. Also, messages longer than 160 characters are very conveniently and automatically divided into two or more pages and sent to the recipients’ cell phones by all Mobili-T applications.

What kind of Databases can be linked to the Mobili-T applications?

The higher-end Mobili-T 1-Way/2-Way applications can be configured via their in-built Business Process Engine (BPE) to link up with all kinds of computer databases, including Excel, FoxPro and also Oracle/SAP ERP databases. The specific data can be drawn either directly from the databases or from a “Specific View” of an ERP data-base, if required. The required data can then be sent by the Mobili-T applications in a secure/encrypted format to the client mobile phones.
How can Queries from client/customer mobile phones be addressed easily and effectively?

The Mobili-T 2-Way application’s BPE has an in-built capability to handle specific query-based links with a client database and report the required data to a customer/recipient mobile phone. The MTC technical staff will be happy to work with the client to program the BPE to handle specific queries from customers/enquirers. This can be done for one or more specific types of queries that a client expects from the enquirers. Each type of query could use a 2 or 3-letter code to register the query. After each query is received the enquirer will get an acknowledgement that his/her query is under processing and the answer/data will follow a few seconds after that.

Do Polling/Query calls from outside use “Short-Code” or “Virtual Number” dialing?

The Mobili-T applications can be adapted to 4/5/6-digit “Short-Codes” or 10-digit “Virtual Number” dialing from outside enquirers or polling respondents. The only difference is that the cost–to–client for the use of Virtual Numbers is a lot less than the use of Short-Codes due to the present prices charged by all the mobile service providers. However, by their very definition Short-Codes are easier to remember than Virtual Numbers.

How does Mobili-T Barcode Event Registration System compare with RFID or SmartCards?

Mobili-T Barcodes can be sent to event registrants via mobile phones, emails or fax even in remote areas instantly before the events, but RFID or Smart Cards have to be physically handed over to the registrants by Post or at site causing delays or possible losses. The higher cost of the RFID and Smart Cards themselves, along with the more costly RFID/Smart Card readers (not to speak of their delivery costs/problems) render these technologies far less cost-effective than the Mobili-T Barcode system. Again, RFID readers generate high amounts of radio-frequency electromagnetic waves that could play havoc with people using heart pace-makers, hearing aids and even mobile phones or other electronic devices near them. For this reason, in the U.S. and Europe the federal agencies/watchdogs, such as the FCC, FDA, OSHA, etc., have still not given blanket approval for RFID cards system for human subjects.
