Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali Salvador Dali was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali Y Domenech on 11 May 1904 in the Spanish town of Figueres in the foothills of the Pyrenees about sixteen miles from the French border in the region of Catalonia. Salvador Dali’s preferred medium was oil on canvas though he also did a number of sculptures and worked on several films as well as a few TV commercials, one was for Alka Seltzer and can be viewed on “YouTube” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owJFJxHVNuc). Dali’s art work and style have always interested me and captured my imagination, it was a very different style of painting which is easy for me to enjoy. I like how you can look at one of his paintings numerous times and still discover something new, or how just your prospective of the painting and change what you see. One of my favorite paintings by Dali is “Dream caused by the flight of a Bee around a pomegranate” which can be located at the website http://salvadordalielephants.com/. This painting was the first

painting that Dali created in America, and is also one of the first artworks to feature Elephants. I was fortunate enough to visit a Dali exposition in Würzburg, Germany in 1997 and see several of his originals, including “Papillon” which is his largest piece of art at 5.2 x 20.5 meters in size.
