Same Sex Attraction Definition
Betty Finney
DB 4
I don’t know if anyone else was taken back when Wendy suggested, “Spiritually, same sex attraction can be passed from one generation to the other (Garzon, Segment 1).” I suppose she is entitled to her own personal world view. According to our reading assignment, a person’s worldview is a set of beliefs about the most important issues in life. A commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart…..(Thomas, J.C., Sosin, L., 2001). But when Paul wrote the book of Philippians’, he was reminding on how they should behave. Phillippians 2:12-13 says, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God, which worketh in you both to will and to

That portion that reads read, work out your own salvation, does not mean we should use the word of God to resolve or sit whatever personal preference we may have. I didn’t mean to drag the discussion out with scripture, but in my opinion, I felt Wendy went a too far to imply same sex attraction can be passed down from one generation to the other. The video presented a theme that people who have same sex attraction can be treated if victims seek appropriate support. I agree totally with that because as Christian counselors, if we operating in our true gift of the spirit, which is love. It will always be our main key in assisting our clients seeking help. 1 Peter 4:8 say, “Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sin.” And if Jesus loves us enough to forgive us of our sin, who are we judge our clients for the lifestyle they have chosen. Another theme I want to comment on is, when Jeff said he pretty much didn’t want to counsel anyone who that compromised his religious belief (worldview). As a responsible Christian counselor, it is our utmost responsibility to use the knowledge we’re learning now, test it against scripture and give free

“ The Love and acceptance of god must be brought to all people. The prejudice and hatred of the christian right must be rejected and fought. Those who act out of ignorance must be educated.” (Simpson, Bruce J.) All churches need to accept and love their homosexual members and stop rejecting them in the house of the lord. It’s god’s home, he wouldn’t want any tension between the sexes in the house.…

The way we view homosexuality has very much to do with how we were raised and taught depending on where we are from, our parents beliefs and what others around us tell us. Because of this we believe what we believe and will stand by them unless we ourselves come to a different conclusion as we grow older. I was raised a Catholic and was taught by the Bible teachings that homosexuality was wrong and will go to hell if that is what you practiced. In this paper we will look a little at the historical and scientific perspectives of homosexuality.…

Most everyone including the church views human sexuality to be separated from theology. Penner and Penner (2003) argued that this is not a biblical interpretation of human sexuality. God's value of the sexuality of the individual and sexuality in the marriage relationship is clearly depicted in the Bible. Sexuality, Penner and Penner (2003) contend, is a gift from God to be experienced and enjoyed between a man and his wife. The relationship between a man and his wife, is one of the deepest commitment one human can make to another. It is a lifelong commitment to honor, cherish, and to be faithful until death to another person. God has given the precious gift of sex within the context of a marital relationship only.…

Starting with the radioactive convictions of those who cannot accept others who love outside their religious scope. In a country where the expression “equality for all” contradicts equality for all, same-sex couples are grabbing for acceptance. Not to mention, the couples of the opposite sex that only wanted to make their commitment to one another official. Being that, Dr. Martin Luther King said in his speech “And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because it is right”. Bottom line, religious beliefs does not excuse one from doing their job, knowing that it may cause an inner conflict…

When looking at historical perspectives, religion and past societies' sexual behavior is addressed. Although past Greek and Roman cultures were frequently involved in homosexual relationships, the Christian religion denounced those sexual associations and made their beliefs and intentions clear that this behavior was not to continue, for example, according to the book of Genesis in the Holy bible, the city of Sodom was destroyed by God as a punishment as a punishment for sexual activity with members of the same sex. The legal system became intertwined with the Christian belief that homosexuality was sinful and would punish inappropriate sex acts as criminal offenses (Rathus, Nevid, & Fichner-Rathus, 2005).…

The Roman Catholic approach teaches similarly- there is nothing wrong with being homosexual, but a homosexual act is a sin. They would say then that a homosexual must commit themselves to celibacy, a view influenced by Paul. There are more liberal approaches within Christianity where homosexuality is not an issue, as long as the relationship is stable and committed; the same as a heterosexual relationship. This view is also founded on Bible teachings- if God created man in his image and God is perfect, then all people are good because God made them either straight or gay.…

The word of God is what speaks to Christians. Integration starts first with the Bible, which is essentially the most important part of being a Christian counselor (Entwistle, 2010). However, a therapist is licensed by the state and bound by a different code of ethics than that of some of these more religious counselors. Typically, a licensed counselor can accept abortion, divorce, and homosexuality, but can these Christian or other religious counselors who are practicing under the Church? I believe that as counselors, we must conform to the client’s needs to be productive counselors, regardless of what our beliefs may be. I think this is necessary for a Christian counselor to be able to practice in a secular atmosphere. A counselor needs to be clear as well as transparent when it comes to disclosing their personal beliefs. Challenges that a counselor can sometimes face with a biblical and psychosocial integration are that some churches still believe it is unacceptable to have certain problems, and that it takes a mere decision to overcome any deficiencies. In a sterile environment, where the administration is “politically-correct,” a Christian counselor could be challenged in what techniques and skills can be used when helping others. Spirit-guided or biblical beliefs may not be warranted in such…

Christian counselors are positioned to encourage and develop a sexually healthy church. Rooting our understanding in a biblical worldview affirms that sexuality and sex were conceived in the mind of God. Sex and sexuality are a precious gift from our Creator. Because they are wed to our creation, sex is an expression of our sexuality and involves our body, soul, and spirit. Although sexual behavior incorporates many meanings, values, morals, and cultural perspectives, a biblical worldview shapes our understanding of how to view and approach sexual topics.…

Edgar Allan Poe the father of the detective genre wrote a multitude of stories with ironic twists and turns the three I have chosen to write about are The Cask of Amontilado,The Tell Tale Heart, and The Masque of The Red Death. Each of these has specific points of irony and other more subtle parts. The Cask of Amontilado is of course about a man who murders another by convincing him he has a rare wine and convincing his victim that they are good friends and he should trust him only to murder him. The Tell Tale Heart is actually a note written by a murder trying to convince the reader that he is quite sane even though he killed and dismembered a man whom he actually liked for nothing more than having a “Vultures eye.” And finally…

Is homosexuality a genetic trait we’re born with, or do we choose this lifestyle? Is it a lack of father and a more involved mother? Why do people think this is abnormal? There are so many questions that people have about homosexuality, their beliefs on it, and why they think it is wrong or right. I have heard so many people say, “It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” Why does religion have a profound effect on why people believe that homosexuality is wrong; that homosexuals are automatically doomed to hell? Gay people have lived a daunting life for centuries because people think that being homosexual is out of the “norm” and that God created everyone to procreate. God created everyone equal, and he taught us to love one another. People often wonder, and I have personally been told this,” that people choose this lifestyle. The story,” Foundations of the Earth”, provides the reader with a vivid image on religion and homosexuality. People use religion to answer many of life’s problems, especially when it comes to moral topics such as homosexuality; whether it’s right or wrong, negative or positive.…

A good aspect of modern psychology is how we have tried to understand a person’s behavior, and how we can help them. For example, an autistic person back in the 1800s would’ve been viewed as a crazy person, but today we are able to recognize the disease and help the person be able to understand and reason, though not in the way a normal person could. In talk back therapy sessions, psychologists are able to listen to the person, understand their thought pattern, and help them with their needs mentally or emotionally. A way this has helped the Christian community is that if a young man with homosexual feelings came in and sought help, we could help him understand the root problem, and be able to help the young man walk back to the way of the…

    Sexual Orientation

In our day and age, being of a sexual orientation other than heterosexual is somewhat common. Though it is definitely not considered a norm, it is more accepted in most parts of the world. A few years ago, people who were not heterosexual had to hide who they really were in order to be accepted by society. Because of this norm, one automatically assumes they are straight whether it comes to themselves or others. So how do homosexual/asexual people become conscious of their sexual orientation?…

Conservative Christians believe that the church should not condone a “homosexual lifestyle,” but should instead help homosexuals find a new life in Christ in hopes of changing their sexual orientation, as homosexuality is a sin. Groups like the Christian “Exodus” movement are organized to help gays and lesbians in this transformation. Other Christians are those who believe that sexual orientation is not just another choice, but a biological given, of God’s creation. For many Christian gays and lesbians, homosexual partnerships, like heterosexual ones, are relationships of choice, of fidelity, and of love. Those few Christians who support gays and lesbians insist that the message of Christ is of divine love and reconciliation, not condemnation. They view that the Christian community should reach out to welcome and support rather than condemning.…
