Pamela Spencer, the manager of HouseMart in Port Madison, New York was confronted by one of the store’s regular customers, Mrs. Kerns concerning the state of her installed cedar fencing after a severe wind and rain storm had hit the area. Mrs. Kerns had contacted HouseMart’s installation manager earlier that morning complaining of her fence leaning at a 45-degree angle and after the installation manager’s inspection, he found that since the fence had been properly installed there was essentially nothing he could do and suggested to Mrs. Kerns that she should contact her insurance company. Mrs. Kerns was unsatisfied with the installation manager’s response and entered the store later that day to confront Pamela just as the store was preparing to close. Pamela explained to Mrs. Kerns that she should give her the pictures of the damaged fencing so she could look at them personally but there isn’t much she could do at the time because the store is closing, and then suggested that Mrs. Kerns return to the store the following day to discuss the matter further. Mrs. Kerns agreed to return the next day to discuss the issue at length, leaving Pamela in a predicament about what to tell Mrs. Kerns concerning her fencing.…

The sentencing judge found that it was established beyond reasonable doubt that the respondent, after finding out that Flick was pregnant, that the course of terminating the offspring by any means in his power, either consensual or otherwise was going to be taken and was part of his thought process during the course of Flicks pregnancy up to the events on the 20th of August 2002. Mens Rea in this case concerning a guilty mind in regards to King has been proven by the actions that led to the assault. It has been stated before the court that King sought an abortion upon the beginning of the pregnancy, determining his disagreement towards the life of the child, and his outlook towards the future of the pregnancy, also being emphasised during his conversations involving Jessica Williams and Brianne McCarthy offering them a payment of $500.00 if they would ‘bash’ Flick as long as it resulted in the death of the baby. His honour concluded that this course of actions was evident in his previous actions, therefore proving a guilty mind.…

In “A&P,” Sammy seems to be very critical of co-workers and customers. His attitude as a cashier is very demeaning towards co-workers and customers. He suggests that the shoppers are like “sheep pushing their carts down the aisle” (Updike 149). Expressing his thoughts in this manner conveys just how he feels about his workplace. Furthermore, Sammy contradicts his own opinions by condemning his co-workers when they communicate to the girls that they are wearing inappropriate clothing in the store. For all intents and purposes, he disregards the fact that he is doing the exact same thing. He sees one of his co-workers, McMahon, “sizing up their joints”…

What was the court’s decision and reasons? The defendant claims that she gave consent to a script that followed her specifications on nudity and simulated sex scenes, and the final script did not follow these wishes, so she essentially did not consent to the final script, therefore voiding the contract. The court judged in favor of the defendant (Anderson).…

Sammy’s assumption of others is immature and serves only as a distraction from his self-distain. He describes, in great detail, the three girls who enter the A&P, in their bathing suits. He begins with their physical descriptions, which lead him to assume their character summarizations. He goes so far as to give them nicknames. “There was the chunky one”, “a tall one, with black hair that hadn’t quite frizzed right”, and then the third one”, She was the queen.” [385]. “Queenie and Plaid and Big Tall Goony-Goony.” [388]. While Sammy is ringing up the sale in his checkout slot, he visualizes “Queenie” as this rich, sophisticated girl. He fantasizes about what her family is like and how fancy their parties must be. He then depicts his family as lower class, as if this was something to be ashamed of, and that he was above that. “Her father and the other men were standing around in ice-cream coats and bow ties and the women were in sandals picking up herring snacks on toothpicks off a big glass plate.” “When my parents have someone over they get lemonade and if it’s a racy affair Schlitz in tall glasses.” [387]. His assumptions and daydreams allow him to escape his reality, temporarily. This is a coping technique, a way for him to get through the day to day, at a job his dislikes, and a life he views as beneath him. During Sammy’s descriptive assumptions of these girls, he also…

Sammy had the same day-in, day-out job that many people before him had and many more will continue to have. The job was a way of life for him. He didn’t like the work, but he needed the occasional and sparse paychecks. Throughout the course of Sammy’s job at the A&P, he noticed and observed many different types of interesting people. One day, in the midst of Sammy’s monotonous pounding of cash register keys at his check-out slot; his eyes wandered off and gazed at three striking young girls that walked into the A&P.…

Not all readers would have the understanding of a male teenager’s point of view. Those who would have the knowledge of a male mind still may not recall how it feels to observe situations as a teenager would. Rather than giving the reader the views from every character, we are strictly held to how Sammy is observing each situation which then allows the reader to feel and think more like a male teenager would. Or at the very least understand it better. The descriptions the main character uses make his thoughts and conclusion to the story even more believable. “There was this chunky one, with the two-piece—it was bright green and the seams on the bra were sill sharp and her belly was still pretty pale so I guessed she just got it (the suit)—there was this one, with one of those chubby berry-faces, the lips all bunched together under her nose, this one, and a tall one, with black hair that hadn’t quite frizzed right, and one of these sunburns right across under the eyes, and a chin that was too long—you know, the kind of girl other girls think is very “striking” and “attractive” but never quite makes it, as they very well know, which is why they like her so much—and then the third one, that wasn’t quite so tall” (Clugston, 2010.Ch. 8 pg.73).…

The Dick Spencer case study contains multiple management issues but perhaps the most glaring problem is Dick’s micromanagement approach. This leadership style appears to be having a very negative impact on employee morale. Additionally, Dick’s approach seems to be perpetuating resistance to desired organizational changes. These three problems are not new to organizations, and a great deal of published literature exists that defines, describes and suggests recommendations to help overcome these issues. Some research data echoes other’s findings but others hold interesting points of view, especially with regard to micromanagement.…

In almost every notable fandom, regardless of media popularity or media form, there is at least one popular “slash” relationship that rules the minds, hearts, and, occasionally, the genitals of its devoted fans. “Slash relationships”, in general, are constructed when fans of a media place two presumably. or explicitly, heterosexual characters of the same sex in a romantic relationship that generally has not been acknowledged within the source media. In season one of NBC’s psychological thriller Hannibal, this slash relationship first materialized in-fandom between horror icon Hannibal “the Cannibal” Lecter and Will Graham. Lecter, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen, and Graham, portrayed by Hugh…
