Sample Field Experience Papers
After giving a lot of thought into what field experience I have considered, I would like to do my field experience at the Kingdom Hall that’s located on Fairburn Road; Southwest Atlanta, GA. This will allow me to go out and understand what it is that Jehovah Witnesses religious practice. This allows me to be part of their Kingdom Hall Services, join study sessions that are held, go to Assemblies and Conventions, and participate in their field services that they require mostly on Saturday mornings. I choose this site because of my personal religion background. Growing up as a Christian, I was taught that being religious and being a Christian had two different meanings. Being religious somewhat and somehow grant you favor and acceptance from …show more content…
As a Christian my beliefs are very different from Jehovah Witnesses, as well as my experiences as a Christian. Many of the encounters that I have had with Jehovah Witnesses has been very emotional debates with close friends being Jehovah Witnesses, and it makes me feel offended about some of the things that they have tried to correct me on about my beliefs as a Christian.
Within the next few weeks I believe that this field placement will be great benefit to me. I will also have the benefit of contributing thoughts in a meaningful and vital way while I gain valuable knowledge of understanding of Jehovah Witnesses religion, as well as opening up to believe they are not arrogant and more superior than other religions like (Christians, Catholics, or Muslims etc…).
This will be a very uncomfortable situation for me, but I feel that it will also be a great experience to understand their religious as well as my own. I want to complete this field experience understanding more about multicultural religions and having a better understanding for not only just the religious for Jehovah Witnesses, but to be more open and understanding too other religious as

I’ve been involved with a organization called Klothe-a-Kid since 7th grade. It’s main purpose is to provide supplies to those in need in rural parts of Kentucky. Through it, I’ve been fortunate enough to work organizing and passing out clothes, school supplies, food, and more to my surrounding neighborhoods and counties. Since Klothe-a-Kid is a Christian-based service, I’ve also been fortunate enough to introduce several new people to my faith while meeting them through the monthly events KAK holds. I believe the reason I consider Klothe-a-Kid to be one of my most significant involvements in my community is because of the scope of which I am allowed to work. I am able to schedule new events in concord with the founder of KAK, for places which…

I do know that they a lot of them do not smoke or drink. They frown on sex before marriage. Sex before marriage is a common thing these day. I know they worship twice a week around here. They differ because other religions drink and smoke. They do not frown on sex before marriage as bad. They all believe that there is life after death, except for the Jehovah’s Witnesses do not, that once you are dead you are dead. I know they do not celebrate any holiday. They do not believe you need to celebrate anything for any reason. They do not associate with anything to do with the holidays. Where most of the other religions celebrate our normal holidays, I know some of the other ones do not celebrate Halloween believing it is the devils…

I have a heart for community service, which led me to join the Social Justice ministry at First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC) in Harlem. I traveled with the ministry to Albany, NY to attend an education lobby and rally day, for the first time. Once we arrived, we met with an assemblyman and advocated for his support of Universal Pre-K (UPK); which would provide free full-day prekindergarten classes for all the four-year old children in New York. The UPK was approved and it was rewarding to have advocated for a program that was successful, and would benefit my community. After this experience, I participated in the Advocacy Academy with the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies. This was an inter-faith advocacy training that prepared me to continue advocating with the Social Justice ministry. Upon completion, I earned a Community Advocate Certificate.…

While I do not follow a certain religion, I do consider myself to be spiritual. In this position I see my beliefs fitting into the dialogue and community. I am hoping to connect with others and learn from their perspectives and beliefs while also being able to connect with my beliefs. After my spring break service trip, I realized that shared service and reflection really is a unique experience that can foster positive changes and development in a person’s beliefs, views, and actions. Having an open safe environment and sense of community with each other is what made my service trip so memorable and I would try my absolute best to bring tha into my DCSA position.…

The person I choice to interview this week just like last week is also someone I turn to when I am faced with questions and concerns regarding all of my biblical classes and sometimes just personal spiritual questions. That person is my pastor and my father in law who has been a southern Baptist preacher for over thirty years. Of those thirty years he has only been pastor of two churches both, which have been very successful while he was and is presently the pastor. When we talk about anything and everything overall we have a great relationship. I choose to interview him this week because I knew he would be able to show me the more experienced side of his ministry because of his years of serving the lord.…

Observe a religious practice or visit a place of religious worship or spiritual significance that is unfamiliar to you. For instance, you may visit a Buddhist or Hindu temple, a local shrine, or a Christian church. Some of the larger institutions (such as Singapore’s Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum) offer free tours, which would make for an easy point of entry. How is the space organized, what kinds of artifacts or images are displayed, and what kinds of routine practices do you observe? How do these elements reflect underlying beliefs and values?…
