INTRODUCTION
I. “Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!” says Captain Jack Sparrow of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean”. If you recall this movie, the Caribbean is a beautiful family of islands, with St. Lucia being one of them. Imagine lush green mountains behind a white sandy beach while overlooking bright, clear turquoise water. This is just a glimpse of what the Caribbean islands look like, including the gorgeous St. Lucia.
II. There are fun activities to do while visiting St. Lucia.
III. St. Lucia is quickly becoming THE international hot-spot by hosting many adventurous and entertaining festivals, according to Travel Magazine 2006.
IV. Today, we will venture into the top beaches of St. Lucia, the annual Food and Rum Festival, and the annual St. Lucia Jazz Festival.

BODY
I. Each of the top beaches at St. Lucia is spread all over the island with each beach offering different activities.
A. Reduit Beach is the most popular beach, according to Francine Kaplan on gocaribbean.about.com.
1. Calm water, best for swimming and other water sport activities
2. Many vendors for renting water-sport equipment.

b. Water skis
c. Canoes
d. Windsurfing equipment
3. Day cruises to explore the island by sea
B. Jalousie Beach is the white sanded beach located between the twin volcanoes, the Pitons.
1. Favorite spot for sunbathing
2. Adventurous spot for snorkeling and scuba divers due to 1,800 ft drop-off at the base of the Pitons.
C. Grande Anse Beach currently has commercial property for sale and development.
1. Leatherback turtle watching site – nesting ground
2. Archeological sites dating back to the period of the Amerindian

II. The Annual Food & Rum Festival is a fun festival held around early November, this year it will be October 30 – November 2.
A. The Festival wants participates to learn about the diversity of Carribbean food and drink.
B. The Festival consists of many events to occupy the participants.
