INTRODUCTION

Computer is called as the fastest technology that has the ability to process information, stored data, and generate transaction over a less period of time. Computers have become common place in our personal as well as our professional lives. We come across computers in the grocery store, the offices, pharmaceutical companies, our vehicles, our homes, our schools, state and universities. It can also help retrieve and update the files of every individual. Most people use computer as storage device especially in big business that require development of system.

The mother company (Pacific Insular Co.) that gave birth to The Generics Pharmacy (TGP) franchise started in 1949 as a family enterprise involved in pharmacy importation and distribution. In 1974, the current TGP President, Mr. Benjamin Liuson, took over the helm from his parents. Some doctors urged their patients to use generics, but since the company was just an importer/wholesaler, it couldn’t sell drugs directly to patients.

The group was able to conduct a study on developing the TGP point of sale system. This system could help process reports and information and update the price and stocks of the products.

1.1 Theoretical Background of the study

The Generics Pharmacy popularly known as TGP is duly recognized pharmaceutical company.
In 2007, TGP tapped Francorp, the world leader in franchising, to energize its franchise development and growth, and thus became the first generics retail pharmacy to franchise in the Philippines. TGP opened its first franchise drugstore along Taft Ave., Pasay City and within three-and-a-half years, it has reached over 1,000 outlets all over the country. The Entrepreneur Magazine has named TGP one of the Top Ten Businesses of the Decade. Furthermore, the company began to move forward with the aim of helping poor people by selling lower cost medicines.
