What would you do if you were presented with a choice, to join the samurai or to join the knights? Which would you choose? This essay is going to show you facts that might help you decide. I will be talking about the samurai and the knights place in society, their armor, and their codes of conduct
The first topic that i will be comparing and contrasting is the code of conduct. The code of conduct for the samurai was called the code of bushido. This code was highly based on honor so much so that if you were a warrior and committed a crime you would have to commit a ritual suicide called seppuku. Seppuku was when you would disembowel yourself and have your head cut off. Weirdly this was considered a honorable death. The knights code of chivalry was very different when compared to the samurai's code of bushido. The knights did not find honor in death like the samurai. Instead they would live their life in service of their lord or nobles and their church. They did this because protecting the lord or noble and his manor also means protecting the people inside from the savage barbarians. These are a few …show more content…
Starting with the samurai, their armor started as a colorful kimono which they wear under their armor. After this they would put on different layers of armor that was layered like the scales of a snake so that they could have almost full mobility while fighting. This allowed them to move around their opponents with ease and strike in fatal areas. The knights armor however, was more focused on brute strength than flexibility the knights armor was completely made of metal and covered head to toe. The only spot you could penetrate would be the eyes. If a samurai and a knight were to fight each other the knight would win because of how much protection he has.
