After Mulholland’s aqueduct operation was done, the World War I began. Since the United States was busy to settle down and controlled the urbanization, US should had been remained neutral. However, to be prepare the surprise attack, US wanted to be able to protect themselves. During the World War I, it was the best time for US to promote more trade and expanded their market toward the world. To do so, federal governments granted money for developing ports and facilities. According to Josef W. Konvitz, through the expansion of shipping, the great port cities acquired a significant manufacturing sector, including shipbuilding, and met the needs of their growing population for food and energy supplies (Konvitz 293). Three months in jail out of possible six is just a slap on the wrist. While I understand that alcohol might have been a factor, the light sentencing gives future sex offenders an excuse to use in court. Ethical reasoning serves as an outline to evaluate human conducts by suggesting what is right and wrong, connoting commitment and duty that should be fulfilled in the society. (Paul & Elder, 2012) It’s a tool to evaluate behaviors that can impact others and in this case, Judge Persky clearly lacked ethical reasoning in this…
The only thing I don’t agree with is that I think his sentence was reduced to much. He still did take someone’s life even if it was to help. No one can be sure that she was in a lot of pain. On the outside it could of looked like she was in pain but what if on the inside she was happy and she enjoying the way she could live her…
Donald L. Niewyk’s fifth and sixth chapters both deal more with outside perspectives and outside reactions than it does with those who were persecuted. The fifth chapter, “Bystander Reactions,” offers four different arguments as to why bystanders acted they way they did during the Holocaust. The sixth chapter, “Possibilities of Rescue,” discusses three different viewpoints on what foreign governments could have done to prevent the Holocaust. These two chapters conclude Niewyk’s book The Holocaust and wrap up the final sequence of events surrounding the Holocaust and the camps.…

If someone attempted to rape you, fail to succeed, and then beat you, what would you do? Go to the police and risk nothing coming of an investigation? Pretend it never happened and sweep it under the rug, just to manifest in your later years as perhaps a mental illness or PTSD? I believe that Bean going to a lawyer and pressing charges was the best way to handle this problem. Why? Well, because Jerry Maddox needs to pay, the town needs to know, and Liz needs justice.…

So this isn’t really about costs, because the government is more efficient than private enterprise in providing social insurance and higher education. If, in some alternate universe, Bernie Sanders were able to win the presidency and enact his proposals in their entirety, it would pose an existential threat to the conservative project to convince Americans that their tax dollars don’t buy much—that government is all about bloat and corruption and giving their hard-earned dollars to the undeserving…
Imagine you're a 15 year old boy. You have been out all day, with your friends, or something that would make a great dinner time story for your family. You then come home to find you mother, father tied to chairs, and murdered. Afterwards you walk into another room to see your little sister and little brother, brutally murdered. During the discussion on Washington Week, Gwen Ifil and her colleagues focused on Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz. The Republicans had their last debate before Super Tuesday and both Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz just attacked Donald Trump. This time Donald Trump couldn't seem to defend himself, but have no fear, Chris Christie is here. Chris Christie gladly gave an endorsement to Donald Trump to help him bounce back from the shakey debate. John Harwood thought you can't get anymore mainstream than the governor of New Jersey. Gwen Ifill responded with "Endorsements don't do much," but because both Trump and Christie like the spotlight they are a perfect match. As Super Tuesday started approaching, the candidates started doing their best…

The method of skeptical inquiry or way by which Pyrrhonian skeptics bring themselves to withhold assent to every non evident proposition is known as the modes of suspension of judgment. There are five such modes that Sextus provides and they are based on: Discrepancy, regress ad infinitum, relativity, hypothesis and circular reasoning. (Empiricus, 165–169) The modes are designed to assist Pyrrhonian skeptics in in continuing their inquiry by guarding themselves from the disquieting state of dogmatism. For the sake of argument, suppose there is a dogmatist who believes that P. In order to avoid the snares of dogmatism, the Pyrrhonian skeptic would resort to withhold assent about P. According to the mode deriving from discrepancy, due to an undecidable…
It is possible as well that some critics believe Clinton’s voice represents her lack of capability to be president because her pitch is closer to that of a child’s than a man’s voice typically is. The correlations found in West and Zimmerman’s research on the nature of interruptions in conversations between men and women and parents and children reveals a potential explanation as to why women in politics may be received with less conviction. West and Zimmerman concluded that men interrupt women similarly to how adults interrupt children. According to their findings, women are more likely to be ignored or restricted by the men they are speaking with and men interrupt when they deem what a woman is saying is problematic (West and Zimmerman).…
On August 9, 2014 Michael Brown, an unarmed African American teenager was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. This event led to protests that lasted for weeks to fight for Michael Brown’s rights along with African American rights. The police officer, Darren Wilson, who shot and killed Brown was declared not indicted by a judge which caused even more anger in Ferguson. Many people showed their anger by setting several buildings and businesses on fire. I believe that different police policies, training, or administration could have prevented the events in Ferguson, Missouri.…
