Secondary Research
The most expensive place to buy a sandwich is London - £1.83 versus a national average of £1.66
One third of the market in value is accounted for by 25-34 year olds
People in Yorkshire spend the most on sandwiches – an average of over £114 a year
Over 30% of all sandwiches sold have chicken as a filling
15.7% of the total sandwiches are bought at Cafes/Sandwich bars
Ingredients
2 ciabatta rolls
Lamb steak
Red onion
Smoked paprika
Mint sauce
I have chosen to do a lamb sandwich because it is unique and high quality, not many supermarkets sell lamb sandwiches because it is very expensive, so they offer cheaper alternatives such as chicken. But since M&S is a high quality shop and is aimed at the working – middle class, their customers will be able to afford the sandwich.
Cost
This sandwich would cost around £3.99 because it has very expensive ingredients such as lamb steak plus the mint sauce would be of high quality. Therefore this product would be in the quality range at M&S. Although this product would cost £4.49 in London, because in my secondary research I found out that people are willing to pay more for sandwiches in London.
