Let’s Get Fat
The United States is one of the nations with more cases of overweight people and obesity. Over the years this problem has increased. Experts in the field say that some of the causes for this disease are the lack of exercise, too much fast food, little sleep and stress, genetic problems and others. Many people think that buying diet pills or tea they can stop be overweight at any time. We have to implement solutions such as balance between fast food and healthy food and more physical activities. In spite of being a country with high levels of obesity, people are not making a big enough effort to eliminate this disease because we still buying fast food, avoiding exercise, …show more content…
and selecting unhealthy food in the supermarkets.
Although people are already alerted about the damage that makes fast food produces, it seems that they prefer to be overweight than anorexic. Thanks to restaurants like McDonalds that are open 24 hours, parents do not have to worry that their children are very weak because they just go and buy an XL serving of any combo every day and soon will look like a donut. But no matter as long as the child is not skinny. “Harvard Medical School says that the sizes of food have been increasing over the years and therefore calories per meal” (Harvard). Two thousand calories is more than a person should eat per day but in a fast food combo with any extras, the calories may be more. Actually, there should be more restaurants of this type, so we do not have to worry about cooking, with $2 you can eat a burger with soda, and with 300 pounds we are going to be fashionable and in good health; but the truth is that it is better to make a row of two minutes or less, than go home and cook, leading a wait of 30 min or more, and anyways is not going to be better than eating a chicken sandwich with fries and a huge glass of soda. Weight-Control Information Network maintain that “more than 2 in 3 adults are considered to be overweight or obese” (Overweight and Obesity Statistics), but nobody pays attention to this, on the contrary, you see fat people trying to get in the car and they can 't, but they have their hands full of unhealthy food, and they care more about putting their food into the car than noticing that they no longer fit through the door, or you can see obese people eating two combos at any of these fat food restaurants while you are eating a chicken salad, and they look at you and at the same time they ask to themselves, that person comes here just to eat a chicken salad? So in their point of view that person is wrong, not them.
Another reason why people acquire this condition is the lack of exercise.
We must forget the elevator, escalators and bus and we have to walk, use bicycles and ladders. Fat people are results from an overuse of technology, this was an invention made by aliens to destroy humanity. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute sustain that more than two hours of watching TV daily influences directly on obesity and overweight (What Causes Overweight and Obesity?). We have to get away from the TV or stop eating while we use it, because our bodies will get fat, therefore we cannot stand from our bed or couch unless we use a crane. Now we have to walk everywhere, so we avoid getting fat, then those who are already overweight should go out rolling and so they will lose weight and when they get skinny, then they must fight to not being anorexic or get fat again. But how can a person go to the gym, with the schedules, the cost of this, and their lifestyle? Nobody is going to stop being in their home to go to the gym to prevent weight gain, it is best go to eat in the fast food and get to sleep at home. On the other hand, children now spend their time playing with iPads and other kinds of video games, consequently, they do not come out to play at the parks or playgrounds and do not burn those calories they consume in your meals. Apple, PlayStation, Xbox, etc; should be closed and stop inventing those games that are just getting fatter children and adults. The government should ban the use of all technology and go back to the time before, when everything was riding horses and people only ate what was
harvested.
Apart from the lack of exercise and fast food, another factor for overweight is buying unhealthy products in supermarkets. Organic food supermarkets are very expensive, so most people go to supermarkets such as Giant, Costco, etc. These supermarkets sell pre-cooked food and people do not know the level of carbohydrate that this food has. But why someone will see the nutrition box if is only pre- cooked food? Which is good, there 's no worry about go home on time to cook. By the way, some vegetables and fruits have a high price, however, it is better to buy a juice with enough sugar and preservatives, we going to spend less than doing a natural juice and is less work. Although buying such food and fast food is the same, the food from the supermarket is more elegant. Indeed, if this is responsible for the obesity and overweight increase, the fat people should be measured at the door, and according to their weight, the supermarket should put a limit in what they buy and the product, or better yet, they should refuse to allow fat people there and paste their photos in the door so security can recognize them.
As the end point, to make that the government actions take a real effect, people must also change their lifestyle, they must do their part and control the amount of fast food they eat, is not necessary overeating, also, they should try to exercise more and avoid using the car if it is not necessary or taking a walk through the residential. People should read and search recipes for improving home-cooked meals, there are many methods of cooking our favorite dishes with less fat. In supermarkets there are many facilities to buy, such as coupons, specials of the week, we just do our part and start eating better. In short, the causes of overweight and obesity are lack of physical activity, intake of fast food and bad food choices the supermarket. Professionals in the field and the government are doing their best to fix and control this situation, but if people do not do their part this will never work.
