Saving the Environment
Saving the environment or better said ‘going green’, a hot topic at the moment. It seems like everything is about ‘going green’. Protection of our environment has become really important in today's society. Environmental movements are doing what they can to let people realize that what we are doing now is bad. The real problem however is that we realize what we are doing and yet we proceed doing it: exploiting natural sources for raw materials, unnecessary usage of water and cutting trees, every person with at least a bit of sense would realize that this is wrong.
As for myself over the last couple of years I have started to realize what kind of devastating power the human possesses and it seems like, roughly said, nobody cares. To nearly everyone the name Green Peace rings a bell and if you would ask a person what they stand for and are fighting for the majority will answer correctly and will whether they want it or not face the fact that something has to change and quick.
If you would have asked me if we should help the environment in the past I probably would have said yes and continuing with the question how, I would have just said something lame like everyone should change their light bulbs for energy saving light bulbs like everyone else. Now however things have changed. Nearly all electric machines, household appliances and even cars got environmentally friendly equivalents. But to be honest I know that it probably is too much asked to expect everyone would utilize these and although a lot has to be changed we can just start from the bottom by changing some things in our ordinary daily life’s like turning of the water while brushing our teeth, unplug appliances you’re not using and setting the thermostat a few degrees lower etc.
To conclude with we have to create a society of environmental awareness across the world. We shall have to put all our efforts to protect our world, which will result in protection for coming generations and the environment for the hopefully many years to come.

Individuals are helping the environment through travel, at home, at work, and in their consumer lifestyles. While traveling they can use other means of transportation or carpool, and at home people are turning off electronics when not in use and overall reducing resource consumption. At work, similar to being at home, turn off electronics when not in use, but also make sure your employer and co-workers are informed of ways they can help. Consumables can be harder as they are things that cost money, where everything previously was a cost-free initiative. Individuals can use reusable bags, change to a more eco-friendly diet, and buy consumables that were produced with environmental standards in mind.…

Green living and renewable energy has been a hot topic in discussions for years. Politicians, environmentalists and companies have made their points on both sides of the argument and tried to force their beliefs onto the public. The masses have now heard how renewable energy helps reduce pollution and how expensive it would be to switch our lifestyle but I don’t think many people know why we need this change or why it is not necessary. Green living has been shown to help reduce our carbon footprint and help the planet but others are saying that it is a waste of money and not necessary in order to survive.…

As a developed country that continues to grow we continue to enjoy the finer things that life has to offer, but often take for granted what it costs the planet for us to have these things. If everyone just took small, simple steps to reduce their footprint, like installing Solar Panels then we wouldn’t use half as many resources, destroy half as many forests or need multiple versions of earth to help us survive. The gains from being more environmentally friendly and aware are much more satisfying than the small amount of satisfaction that you get from buying a new item that will just be tossed…

Back in the 1900s, the environment was not thought of as a big issue. Between 1960 and 1962, several major environmental events occurred and changed the mind of many. Many people began to understand the importance of what the environment does for them to be able to survive. Today, taking care of the environments problems are serious. To be honest, I never really have put much thought into the environment and how every little thing we do affects it in some way. Coming in to college and taking my environmental biology class and now watching the documentary in this class has opened my eyes to some realities about the world we live in today, such as, half of the forests that originally covered 46% of the Earth's land surface are gone. Only one-fifth of the Earth's original forests remain pristine and undisturbed. Furthermore 60% of the world's coral reefs that contain up to one-fourth of all marine species could be lost in the next 20-40 years. Those are things that I would have never imagined, especially growing up in the area I was raised in it was pretty much all pasture and clean springs. But that’s the reality that no one seems to want to really hear. If we took some of these statistics seriously and did just a few small things to help our environment that we supposedly love it would make a much bigger difference than everyone probably thinks.…

There are many problems facing the world today; serious problems that could have grave consequences if not resolved within the next few years. However, there is one looming problem, which if not resolved, could make all other problems obsolete; the way that we take care of the environment, or rather the way we neglect it. The environment is a necessity for everyday life. Without the environment, we would die. How we chose to end global warming is interesting, because much of our daily uses affect the environment.…

The setting and the imagery of the setting is used to communicate "The Story of an Hour's" theme of freedom, independence, and a new life. The story begins in a place that we are aware is public. It is in that room that Josephine tells her sister about the accident that killed her husband. Mrs. Mallard reaction is as expected. In her bedroom, a more private setting we see her internal thoughts about her husband’s death. The closed room represents the dull, trapping marriage Mrs. Mallard was in. Once she opens the windows it’s like her mind is open to the opportunities that are possible. What she sees out the window symbolizes her desire to start living her new life. Sunshine, people living; she’s ready to start what she’s been missing. The front of her house is described as “open square”. Multiple motifs of spring giving give us the impression of freedom and new life. She smells the rain, sees the commerce and hears a song and the birds. Instead of grieving the loss of her husband, she was “drinking the very elixir of life through that open window.” Even here we have three different settings representing three different emotions. The house represents her old life, what’s outside the window is what this new life can bring and her looking out the window is her new longing for this life.…

"Go Green," the new slogan that promotes saving the environment is being heard everywhere. As I turn on my television or pass a billboard on the highway. The message is loud and clear that the earth is desperately crying out for us humans to start taking care of our domain. According to Green Living, "Going green is about conserving our resources, finding alternative energies, and innovative ways to keep our rivers and oceans cleaner and our landfills smaller. Moreover, I aim to give back to the Earth, I’ve already started my journey by leading the Eco-Warrior club at my school to make Reed High more environmentally friendly. I feel that humanity should aspire to maintain the Earth for generations to come. As I hear about the exploitation of our planet it angers me knowing that people abusively strip the Earth of her resources; we cannot go rampantly destroying the same home which provides us with life. I am driven by the moralistic need to preserve the Earth which has given us everything. We must give back all that we’ve taken from the…
