Description
“The Garden Of Eve” is flower shop specializing in unique and beautiful floral arrangements for any special occasion being a wedding, a Quinceaños, an anniversary or that special someone. It is a sole trader owned business that opened its doors for business on the 10th of February, 2008. The business involves secondary production as it obtains its vast assortment of fresh cut flowers from wholesale florists that cultivate them and the various non-growing components that are used by the floral designers in making arrangements such as: ribbons, vases, baskets, floral foam, wreath, frames, stands and other supplies from floral suppliers ¬that sell them.
Justification of location
“The Garden of Eve” is located at the corner of Pescador Drive and Caribbeña Street in downtown San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. It is housed in a 1200 square foot business locale with access to public utilities. The location satisfies its key customer needs of an increased footfall as there are a lot of other businesses located nearby that increases the potential for a higher gain in more customers, therefore resulting in a higher rate of sales and eventually a bigger growth of profit for the business. The location is situated in a safe neighbourhood with a close proximity to police and fire station providing the customers and the business with an ease of mind when it comes to safety and security. The location was also chosen as it is close to either the airport and water taxi terminal so as to minimize the cost of freight from the airport or the water taxi terminal to the business when receiving a shipment of flowers and supplies.
Selection of appropriate labour
“The Garden of Eve” employs skilled, semiskilled and unskilled personnel. They are as follows: one sales consultant, two floral designers, one delivery man, a janitor and a part time bookkeeper. Each member of the staff is required to have a clear understanding of their primary role in the shop. The sale consultant is
