Saint José Ramón Agustín Pro Juárez, also known as Saint Miguel Pro, was born on January 13, 1891, in Guadalupe, Mexico. He was one of eleven children, the oldest boy. Sadly, four of his siblings died as babies or young children. From an early age, he was heartily spiritual, as well as mischievous; he constantly entertained his family with his humor and practical jokes. St. Miguel was a dauntless child and sometimes took his pranks and fun too far, putting him in several near-death mishaps. The third oldest in his family, St. Miguel was unquestionably very close with his older sister. After she entered a convent at age 20, he started to recognize his own calling to the priesthood. Though his father wanted him to continue with the family business, Miguel lived for God and entered the Jesuit novitiate in El Llano, Michoacán in 1911. He had been studying with the Jesuit priests for only a year when a religious revolution broke out in Mexico and by 1914, the Jesuits were forced to flee the country.…

Overall, Smilodon was more robustly built than any extant cat, with particularly well-developed forelimbs and exceptionally long upper canines. Its jaw had a bigger gape than that of modern cats and its upper canines were slender and fragile, being adapted for precision killing. S. gracilis was the smallest species at 55 to 100 kg (120 to 220 lb) in weight. S. fatalis had a weight of 160 to 280 kg (350 to 620 lb) and height of 100 cm (39 in). Once the Civil War had ended, many rejoiced and thought that African Americans would be free to live out normal lives, but then came the increase of lynching. After the war, the Southern economy was in ruins, and lynching had allowed white southerners to express their hatred and discontent towards the situation and African Americans were the vulnerable targets for their pent-up anger (Notes). In Southern Horrors, Feimster introduces Rebecca Felton, who was a wealthy slave owner, and Ida B. Wells, a slave born women, and how each woman viewed this idea of lynching drastically diverse from each other due to their upbringings.…

“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” Said by Steve Jobs. Being in Jrotc had taught me many things. I first joined as a sophomore. I didn't know what to expect. Since I’ve started JROTC I’ve been challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally. I have learned how to work more as a team and learn about leadership. Most things I’ve learned in JROTC I probably wouldn't have learned in my other classes. Cadets have managed to overcome many fears, tears, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories. Therefore, Jrotc builds character and leadership by its many activities such as conducting color guards, being apart of the chain of command, and being apart of the raider team.…

Throughout the course of the last nine weeks, my eyes have been opened to an entirely new world full of nutritional and exercising information. It is rough being a thirty-three year old husband and father, with an eye on trying to remain on this planet for as long as humanly possible. As parents, we all have goals we want to achieve. The usual suspects include seeing your children graduate high school and then college, walking your daughter down the aisle of her wedding, and being able to retire and continue to live a healthy and happy life. What I have come to realize through this nutritional and exercising information is that in order to accomplish this goal, there are certain aspects of my life that I need to change. I am not a particularly healthy eater. I do not exercise regularly. I mostly do what I can with the time I have available. I suspect this problem plagues many men across this country and around the world. In my state, the obesity rate is close to 30% and it continues to trend upward (Centers for Disease Control, 2011). Without a drastic change in lifestyle, I am simply adding to the statistics. The knowledge I have gained in this course has led me to believe that this is simply unacceptable. Something has to change, and I have a plan to make that happen.…
