It’s In the WATER
It's in the water, they always say.
But who would have thought, it would come so easy, it would come this way.
Armageddon.
We all knew the water was bad, science would save us; it's all we had.
But science can go wrong, like the flip of a switch.
Our life was heaven, and now it's a bitch.
Water was our lifeblood, our source, our tool.
We thought it would last forever, but science made us a fool.
With no time left, we huddle and pray.
But water is thicker than blood, to our last day.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS TO A YOUNG DRUG USER
Friends and fellow students I will call your attention to a lurking challenge that is confronting us today. This eminent danger is far more alarming and disturbing than the traffic problems, budgetary deficit, or proliferation of garbage that is polluting the environment. Despite the efforts of the government and non-government entities to control this growing men-ace, success Is not yet in sight. It strikes both the affluent and the unknown, rich or poor, the young and the older sector. According to the Narcom, the youngest addict is a 12 year old elementary pupil. For the love of drugs, people will sell their souls to the Devil. Families are ruined. The recent rise in crime such as rape, suicide, homicide, and kidnapping are mostly attributed to drugs. What is more, with the presence of corrupt members of the law enforces and some rogues in robes as described by the media, control of drug trafficking campaign is losing. Drugs are intended to cure ailments. They give relief an sedation to sufferers of extreme pain such as cancer patient or gunshot victims. Some medications give relief to persistent cough and to those who cannot sleep. Yet there are people who see oppurtunities to get rich quick- manufactures and protectors of this vice that caters to whoever wants the drugs. Seemingly, lots of campaigns have been launched recently with logistic support and philanthropists. So many slogans were made such As MAD AGAINST DRUGS, ALSA MASA LABAN SA DROGA ALIS PROBLEMA, SAVE THE USER, JAIL THE PUSHER- all did not amount to anything. We, the youth are inheritors and the future citizens of this country. We are the main targets of this vicious vice. We must fix our shields against this growing destructive monster. Over the slopes of Mountain Province and the thick forest of Mindanao, marijuana growers continue to abound. On the busy streets of Divisoria in Tondo, several rugby boys and even rugby girls were seen in their sniffing sessions on the railroad ties, thanks to over the counter freedom given to them by unscrupulous drug stores, or enterprising syndicate, or vendors. You might be the next victim to be tempted to try the trip on the vice. After all, everybody is vulnerable and may not mind to experiment for a kick. Family problems, stress, and depression are common among teenagers as well as love related problems. There is no future for drug users; they will not grow older for they die young. Drug destroy the very foundation of family solidarity and the moral core of the society. The dream we might have set for ourselves will no longer stand but will be shuttered into pieces. Drug users are driven to the rehabilitation centers or to the grave.
The bottom line is never, never, never try drugs!

A “hero” is defined as a person admired or idealized for their courage or noble qualities. To me, a hero is someone who will fight against the odds for what they believe is right, sometimes making a personal sacrafise for the benefits of others. In the book, the Scarlett Letter, author Nathaniel Hawthorne depicts main character Hester Prynne as the hero. Although it may be true that Hester commits the sin of adultery, we must look beyond that and on to how this sin not only beneficial to Hester, but the town as a whole.…
