The Crucible by Arthur Miller takes place in a Puritan New England town of Salem, Massachusetts. The idea of witchcraft is a big deal in Salem, it seems like pretty much everyone in the town is accused of this act. The accusations all start when Abigail Williams and a group of her friends are caught in a forest dancing and supposedly committing the witchcraft acts. The girls all have different motivations for wanting to do witchcraft. Abigail Williams who committed adultery with John Procter, her goal is to get rid of his wife Elizabeth Procter so that she can be with Mr. Procter. Due to this one incident more problems develop throughout the story involving many more people. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne takes in place in Boston in the seventeenth century. A young puritan woman Hester Prynne is shunned by her community and is put in prison because of the act she committed. While her husband is said to be supposedly be lost at sea, Hester has an affair and ends up having a child named Pearl. Throughout the story we figure out that a particular elderly onlooker is Hester’s missing husband who now goes by the name of Roger Chillingworth and practices medicine. Due to the sin committed by Hester she is forced to wear a scarlet letter A on her chest for her punishment and refuses to let anyone know the name of Pearl’s farther. Easy A by Will Gluck focuses around a girl named Olive Penderghast who posts webcams discussing what occurs in her life. Olive life starts to get really hectic all because of one little white lie she told her best friend Rihannon.
