This is how I intend to transform this scene: the character of Caroline is frantically looking for Joel, her best friend, on the day he is leaving town. Caroline having been nervously awake late into the night, causing her to accidently sleeps through her alarm awaking to many sad messages from Joel. He was expressing his goodbyes, but was hoping he will get to see her one more time before he boards his train out of town.
The instrumentation of this scene will remain quite simple with bluesy instruments, including an acoustic guitar, harmonica, symbols and drums. The tonality will stay major creating a calming, happy emotion. This cue will contain a combination of leitmotifs and melodic contour to symbolize their relationship and this major turning point. As the scene progresses the cue will begin to thematically transform from a calming scenic melody to a slightly quicker, thicker texture to match Caroline’s scurry to find Joel and have her final goodbye before their paths separate.
The scenic beginnings of the scene will be accompanied by a simple and relaxing combination of acoustic guitar, and harmonica, inspired by Neil Young’s Harvest Moon. It will have a soft beat, and thin texture to show the simplicity of this sunny late
