Scholarship
First I would like to express my appreciation for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. I hold a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University Libre of Colombia.

I am applying for this scholarship because the opportunity to pursue a master’s course in Switzerland represents the next important challenge in my life. The last two years have taught me that studying and living abroad can help not only broaden my horizons but accelerate my personal and academic growth as well. The main reasons for choosing The university of Bern were the high quality of education and the programme offered, the opportunity of meeting and associating with people from all over the world and to be immersed in a society with a global outlook and politically neutral understanding of life, a model to be followed in my opinion.

My objective is to pursue the Msc in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing, plus living and integrating with multilingual people in order to develop a third language which is undoubtedly one of my reasons to study in a country as multicultural as Switzerland. I believe that my strong motivation to pursue an International carrier in the field of Business Administration and Marketing make me a strong candidate for your Master Program. I am looking forward to the opportunity to study at The University of Bern and immerse myself in my studies and the Swiss culture to increase my cultural awareness.

With my personal traits and an Engineering background, I strongly believe that I am well prepared for studies in business. After my work experience in production and quality systems I had an excellent pathway to business and I always enjoyed learning about as I found it fascinating. In addition to my professional experience, I have also had a chance to take part in social volunteer activities organized by the Mayor of my city for the benefit of children from low income families, which gave me experiences in working selflessly for others.

I deserve to be selected for the KSU Foundation scholarship because I am dedicated to serving others and know how important it is to persevere. Having won an Air Force Junior ROTC national community service award in the 9th grade and having voluntarily completed over five hundred community service hours during my junior and senior years of high school, I want to continue on serving others in any capacity possible. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to continue on the path to becoming a surgeon for Doctors Without Borders by assisting me financially, allowing me to have more time to serve my community when I otherwise would have been working to be able to afford to stay in college and complete my degree program. Finally, my work and volunteer…

From abrogating the infamous problem of world hunger that is prevalent among the developing countries to the preservation of Mother Nature who seems to exponentially spiral down towards death in correlation to our nonstop industrial poison, the premiere issue that arises to be solved is not utilizing these funds solely to discover or use on research for the historically-yearned panacea of all these problems, but to discover the grades of importance to which these problems need to be chronologically addressed. Sure, the level of importance may fluctuate for people with different perspectives, but finding the common ranks in which the majority agrees on will most likely prove to palliate the cons of our society’s traditional morality.…

Euthanasia, formally known as mercy killing, is the act of intentionally causing the painless death of a sick person, rather than allowing that person to die naturally. In terms of a physician's actions, it can be passive in that a physician plays no direct role in the death of the person or it can be active in that the physician does something directly to cause the death (Yount, 2002). Euthanasia may also be formed into three types of act, which are voluntary, involuntary, and nonvoluntary. Voluntary involves killing the patient at his or her request. Involuntary occurs when the patient does not give consent, or refuses. Nonvoluntary is where the patient is not able to make the decision about their medical treatment so it is up to a third party to make the decision for them (Yount, 2002). Legalizing euthanasia would cause many complications because we are dealing with a very controversial issue that brings into focus some extremely powerful, conflicting, and competing values. Under the Canadian Criminal Code, active voluntary euthanasia is illegal and individuals can be convicted for 14 years for murder (Ogden & Young, 2000). Passive euthanasia has been legal because the courts have recognized the right of a patient to refuse and to terminate unwanted medical treatments. The question that remains today is whether legalizing active euthanasia in Canada could either benefit or harm not only the individuals involved, but also society as a whole.…

Dear Sir, Dear Madam, I am writing in application for a place in your graduate program, namely the Ph.D. in French Studies with a concentration in Language and Identity, to start in the fall of 2006. I am currently completing my Master 1 at the Sorbonne University (Paris III), having also acquired my B.A. (Licence) in that institution. My Bachelors and my current Masters at the Sorbonne primarily consist of the study of French literature and dramaturgical texts from the 16th up until the present day. I have had the opportunity to study in depth classic authors such as Moliere, Racine or Corneille. I have been especially marked by the latter author in his tragedy “Le Cid”. My education has also included the works of Rousseau, Beaumarchais, Montesquieu, Hugo, Zola Chateaubriand, Apollinaire, Aragon and other 18th to 20th Century writers. Many of the ideas advanced by these 18th Century writers went on to play a tremendous role in shaping France and Europe via their influence on the revolutionaries of 1789. Hugo and Zola also influenced their generation by exposing societal injustice in their works, most notably in “Germinal“and “Les Miserables”. Throughout my high school and university education I have studied foreign languages such as French and English. I have always had a particular passion for France (where I have lived for several years) and French culture and language. I was admitted to the Perm State University in order to learn French. In order to broaden my knowledge I enthusiastically took up the opportunity to move to France, where I have spent most of the last five years of my life, working and studying at the same time. When I arrived in France, I worked as an au pair (alongside my studies), as well as for a tour operator. I have also taught French to both teenagers and adults while in Russia, and Russian and French whilst in France. These experiences have greatly aided me in developing my teaching and communication…

Dear Sirs, I am writing to express my interest in participating in the exchange program at Aalen University in Germany. My name is Joaquín Rojas, and I am an undergraduate student of Industrial Civil Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Currently, I am in my last semester, which, in my viewpoint, is the perfect time to live this experience. I have chosen Germany as my destination for several reasons, which are related to personal and working matters. In the first place, my family has a strong connection with this country since my grandmother has German ascendency; so I have always received its cultural influence. Also, this experience gives me the opportunity to live independently and realize what I am capable to do on my own. At the same time, living in Germany will make me able to study another language. Apart from that, Germany is a developed country with a rich history, which I would like to get familiarized with. Specifically, Aalen University represents the perfect educational center since it’s located in Württemberg-Baden, one of the most competitive states in Europe. The university is highly linked to business and economy, which are the fields I am interested in. Finally, Aalen is known for its cultural diversity with students from 50 different countries, which gives me the chance to socialize, live, and get to know people from all over the world. I hope these words can explain how I feel about living this experience and how interested I am about it. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about this exchange program. Sincerely, Joaquín Rojas…
