Dual Credit Scholarship Essay

I've chosen to enroll in this Dual Credit Course because I believe that it will help advance

me for next year when entering as a freshman in college next year. AP Statistics is currently a

a favorite course of mine because I have a passion for the study of mathematics. I believe in

challenging my self on a day to day basis and I would like my course selections to reflect that

part of me. My goal is to succeed in everything that I do. Throughout my high school years, I

have taken other college courses and received good grades in those courses but I have made the

mistake of not enrolling in the programs provided for me to receive credit for college. Another

reason why I made the decision to enroll in a Dual Credit Course was because I had completed

and passed all of the required mathematical courses that were needed to graduate and I didn't

want to not take a math courses for a year before I entered college, I wanted to expand my

knowledge of math by trying a different type such as Statistics which deals with real life

situations.

The impact that I think that this Dual Credit Course will have on my future is that it will

better prepare me for my education continued after high school. This course gives me insight to

other courses that I will take in the future, especially math courses. Although I understand that

this course will not give me a full college experience, I feel that I will be better prepared for my

courses that I will take in college and that's one of my main priorities while in high school is to

prepare myself for college as best as can

Rather than not pass math again, I chose to withdraw. I didn’t want to run the risk of barely passing and not being prepared for Math 110 which would then jeopardize my GI Bill. My Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) counselor recommended me to try Math 56 as it covered more material and I would have better an opportunity to pass it. I took Math 56 over this past summer. I did not pass the class yet, I felt more confident in my abilities to understand Algebra. Proudly, last semester I passed Math 56 and was one of the top students in the class. Without a strong foundation, Algebra has taken me along time to understand. With perseverance, my math anxiety has become manageable. Additionally, I came to learn about some challenges when using the GI Bill, for example, there is no pay when school is not in session. I went to the Palomar College Career Center to update my resume. Unfortunately, getting a part-time job on the weekends proved to be difficult. Hard work of looking for more income had paid off and I was able to find a job working with Veterans Office doing VA work study. Learning how to navigate through the college system in order to help my seventeen-year-old son go through the process is motivation to finish my education plan and…

<I’ve learned so much during this course and have truly grown as a person. I have never really been too open minded. I kind of stick to what I believe and no one can tell me otherwise. My grandma is really the only other person I really believe could tell me something and I would consider what she was saying as being correct. She influenced so much in my life. A lot of my decisions and choices I thought of her first or I would call and ask for her input. Without any extra questions or searching for other possible answers I would believe her almost instantly and go with what she said. During these few weeks I have learned to investigate all possibilities before making a decision so I can make the best one. My pride and my stubbornness also kept me from using critical thinking. Instead of taking the time to really analyze a problem and pick the best way to fix it I just did what I felt was the thing to do. During my time in this course I was taught the necessary steps to take in order to properly solve issues. I plan on utilizing everything I have learned for not only the rest of my academic time with the university of Phoenix , but for the rest of my life in and out of school or work.…

What if you have a huge business company? Can you imagine how much you would make. Another thing about business is that it is all about math. I hope that taking this course in High School will extend my math skills to another level. It is not all about the money. Math is a very important subject itself. Everything around us could be related to Math somehow. Let’s see, see the computer or phone your reading this on, it is full of math. That’s…

I never actually attended UConn as a degree student. Although it is true that I enrolled late in the summer of 2009, it was only for the briefest amount of time. I enrolled late at UConn because unforeseen financial issues in my family made attending the other schools I was accepted into a terrible idea. However, quickly after enrolling I came to the realization that I had no concise plan of action towards a specific degree. I was enrolled in a mishmash of different classes that did not take me towards any direction. Therefore, I decided to drop the courses I was enrolled in, and instead work full time and save money to pay for college on my own. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, some kind of error must have occurred in this process. I thought…

Since my graduating class had already started in the major they gave us an option. You could either stick with the old major or choose the new major, which had less credit hours, but required a double major or minor. I immediately jumped at the new major program. I knew exactly which other major I wanted to add-on, professional writing. Right away I knew I made the right decision. I loved my classes, the environment, and my professors. Unfortunately, since I switched programs some of the classes I had previously taken didn’t count towards the new program. This means I had taken classes that didn’t count towards my major or the Miami plan program and this set me back. Currently, I’m six credit hours away from graduating on time. Going on the Study Abroad program in Florence will put me back on track and keep me on time for graduation this…
