Theme- Music
Topic- Artist contributes positively to the development of teens through there lyrics.
Theme and purpose: Music is like the '3rd ' parent that a teen has, it teaches and it is highly influencial, this research was done to prove that artists contributes positively to the development of teens through ther lyrics.
Relaton to academic interest: The researcher is currently doing a sociology course, therefore it is important that the researcher learns about the role artists play in the lifes if teens.
Relation of theme to the researcher work-related interest: The researcher is currently working towards being an artist and song writer therefore the researcher as opted to gain knowledge of this field.
Relation of theme to the researchers personal interest: The researcher who is a teen, believes that artist are important members of society moreover there lyrics have a great impact on teens. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

LITERATURE REVIEW
(Solomos 1993, Cited in Haralambos and Holborn 2004) Racism isthe ideologies and social processes, which discriminates against people based solely on the basis of their belonging to a differentethnicity. It should be noted that some sociologists, such as, Parsons,think that people are primarily socialized to be racist. The influencingfactors of racism are: parents, siblings, peers, school, governmentalofficials, religious figures, mass media and many others.(Smith n.d. Cited in Mustapha, 2009) Racial disadvantages are aresult of the differences in cultural characteristics that do not coincidewith the norms and values of the upper class.
