School Skipping

School is the most important thing in a child’s life.Throughout his growing life, high school is going to affect him mostly, and show him what way his life is going. Sadly, a lot of students fail to attend school daily and sometimes tend to skip often. These students do not realise the consequences of skipping just yet, but they soon will realise their mistakes and regret it later in their lives. Skipping needs to stop in order to achieve the ambitious educational goals set for them by our national leaders. But why do they continually skip, even after the numerous warnings we give them? And most importantly, what’s going to stop them from skipping? The most popular answer student give when asked why they skip, is that school is boring, and they could be doing “more important stuff” then listening to a teacher talk about mathematical equations, but its so much more than that, but they do not understand that. They think about the present and not about the future. Statistics show that “students who miss more than 10 days of school are more than 20 percent less likely to graduate from high school than their peers”. And statistics are there for a reason, they are based on facts.Another cause for skipping school is oversleeping, which is how the lazy people explain themselves for not showing up to class. They say excuses like “my alarm didn’t go off” or “my mom forgot to wake me up”etc… Ultimately, there is no excuse of why you should skip school. Attending school is mandatory for a student’s life, and should be taken more seriously but the students and their parents. Parents have a great impact on the student’s thoughts on school, therefore parents possess the power to make their children stop skipping school and start caring more for their future. While there are many reasons why a student skips school, there are also many solutions to go through to fix the situation and make the students want to go to

In Gatto’s text, the author mainly describes about his interpretation of school’s attendance, which does not efficiently work with the majority of students. / In his “Against Schools;” Gatto central argument is about school’s attendance, which does not efficiently work with the majority of students. I agree with Gatto when he says that going to school does not simply mean that students fill up seats in classes and have to study compulsory subjects, which are seen as students’ routines every single day (Colombo, Cullen, and Lisle 143). In my opinion, if there is no change in the school curriculum; it means students are given the same lectures in the same mandatory subjects from year to year, making generation of new students the same as the previous ones. Instead of being lectured to memorize the contents of mandatory subjects, such as geography, history, and literature, which are uninteresting to many students, including me, students should have more opportunities from schools to help them figure out their real passion and then be encouraged to pursue it. An early preparation for students’ careers will always make…

College is a daunting subject for students everywhere. From the moment middle schoolers move on into high school, graduating is the sole widespread focus, and the question of “what will you do afterwards?” begins to be asked. Though many may take a gap year, others will begin to work or continue to work their high school jobs, almost all students will have the same debate: whether they will go to college or not. This has been an ongoing topic for generations, and the variance of opinions regarding college attendance are incredibly diverse, spanning from some people thinking that it’s useless and causes needless debt, to others who think it’s an absolute necessity and good jobs cannot be acquired without it. The reason why I did not skip school while most my classmates skips is because I thought it was a stupid idea to skip school when it's one of the last weeks to work on school to tidy things up to graduate.
