As I arrive at school, I hear girls behind me say, “Do you see what she is wearing, ew?” Everyday, I am bullied because of my attire. Because of the low income in my family, I do not always wear the most “stylish” outfits. Clothing type is one of the leading causes of bullying. Dorothy Espelage, a professor of educational psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, says she has seen an increase in "bullying related to clothes.” I believe schools need to impose school uniforms. If school uniforms were enforced, equality would be promoted to all students. Also, the uniforms would not be distracting or flashy.

However, this claim is false due to the fact that students can add multiple ways to individualize up their uniforms. Middle schooler, Amelia Jimenez, wrote, "contrary to popular belief, uniforms do not stop students from being themselves. Uniforms do not silence voices. Students can wear a variety of expressive items, such as buttons or jewelry”. This evidence shows us that it is possible to impose school uniforms without removing their freedom. If school uniforms are applied, I am certain we could raise test scores and minimize bullying without taking away students freedom of expression.
A solution to the dress code concern at schools is to immediately start enforcing school uniforms. The children may complain that their freedom of expression is being taken away at first, but then they will realize they can style their hair differently and wear buttons, bracelets, necklaces, and more to individualize their outfits. Students will be organized, smarter, and happier if school uniforms are enforced.
