School Yearbook On Time Analysis
Being on my school's Yearbook Committee, I get to show my creativity through photography. I enjoy being able to take pictures of my friends, classmates, and teachers. For me, it is a break from the everyday normal of going to classes and taking notes and studying for tests. Photography is a creative outlet that I now enjoy and will be a life long passion of mine. However, being on the Yearbook Committee is not all about taking pretty pictures, it's also about working with others to achieve a common goal- which is finishing the yearbook on time. To finish the yearbook on time it takes many hours of uploading, scanning, and editing and an average meeting can consist of 2-5 members. When our designated teacher has to be away for a meeting, I am

The main effect of Shay’s Rebellion was that the states sent delegates to Philadelphia to rewrite the Articles of Confederation because many leaders were frightened, people were upset by the Articles, and they wanted to prevent further rebellions. To begin, the states sent delegates to Philadelphia because Shay’s Rebellion frightened many wealthy leaders by showing them that even a small rebellion could accomplish a lot. These wealthy leaders worried what the poor people could do if they all united, because in the French revolution, the poor rebelled against the wealthy and decapitated them. In addition, Shay’s rebellion showed how unhappy people were with the Articles, which encouraged the states to send delegates to rewrite the Articles in…

Have you ever wondered why you seem so tired day after day? Maybe it has something to do with the time that you wake up to get ready for school. It turns out that school start times are way too early for us to focus and be alert, and it could have some major consequences. Not only does waking up so early damage our health, restrict our ability to learn, and counter the capability to make good decisions, but it also impacts the lives of the people we know and love negatively.…

I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…

When it comes to sexual assault, it is the common belief that the offenders are male and the victims are female, but this is not always the case. In 2014, a study was done looking at the effects of victims, offender and juror gender could impact decisions in child sexual assault cases (Quas, Bottoms, Haegerich & Nysse-Carris). This case study was done by having mock jurors read scenarios of a man or a woman defendant accused of molesting a 15-year-old boy or girl. There were four different versions of the scenario where the 15-year-old student was allegedly assaulted by a 36-year-old teacher, who was also the soccer coach; the only difference in these scenarios was changing of the genders. The mock jurors would then state their verdicts and rated both the defendant…

were satisfied with their child’s school experiences (Shields 9). For over 100 years, most schools have adhered to a traditional summer vacation schedule which stemmed from our primitive technological resources and advancements. However, as technological growth was made schooling throughout the year became more practical and thus the concept of a year-round schedule was introduced. With year-round schedules now becoming ever more prevalent and traditional schedules becoming slowly obsolete, a debate has sparked between the merits of the two. This debate has involved comparing the different advantages and disadvantages of the two schedules. While a traditional summer vacation may…

Students depend on schools as a basis for their education, a place to learn and grow, and to push them towards post secondary success. The Mounds View School district’s board members set up the district’s high schools to start at 7:25 a.m., followed by the middle schools (8:05 a.m.), and then the elementary schools (8:45 a.m.). Focussing primarily on our community's high schoolers, as they are statistically proven to need more sleep, it is crucial that they are getting at least ten hours a night. In order for this to happen, they would need to go to bed by 8:25 every night (assuming it takes them an hour to get ready and drive to school), which is extremely unlikely with the amount of homework, activities, and sports students are involved in. Hence, teens are not receiving their required amount of sleep at night. Correspondingly, schools (similar to Irondale or Mounds View) have increased rates of teenage car accidents, have more students diagnosed with mental and physical health problems, and students are obtaining lower academic achievements; therefore, I propose that anyone who cares about the future of New Brighton’s high schoolers should write a letter to the district’s board members in order to influence Mounds View Schools to push…

The book I chose to analyze is Choose your own adventure: The Cave of Time, which was the first book of the choose your own adventure series. On its own, the book stands as a rebel among normal books, presenting itself as an interactive book, where one must discontinuously read to harvest all the possible endings. On a personal level, the book's significance emerges as I delve into the past. Growing up in poor neighborhood in Venezuela, not many books were available to me, and thus reading for fun was never a consideration until I moved to Canada at eight years of age and my quality of education increased.…

Going through this project I was faced with many challenges, challenges we had discussed in class that I had thought I was prepared for. I was faced with group issues from lack of communication to time issues and conflicting schedules. I met these challenges by simply asking Tyler what I needed to do, if there was any extra research I could do or if I could help pay for anything extra. As far as the conflicting schedules go we were able to work around others work schedules as much as possible, but with everything nothing will work out perfect and some sacrifices always have to be made.…

The safety of students should be the school’s number one priority just like they say it’s their number one priority when they are on campus what about off campus? In 2008 a study was done by the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, they found that when high schools in Fayette County, Kentucky, changed their start times from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., teen car crash rates dropped by more than 16 percent (NBC News). This study shows that the earlier students have to get up and go to school they are more prone to have a wreck.
