Schreyer Honors College Personal Statement
I am interested in joining the Schreyer Honors College because I am seeking opportunities to enhance my undergraduate experience at Penn State. Additionally, I feel that my membership in the Schreyer Honors College will help to prepare me for my future beyond graduation. The opportunity to take more honors courses is one of the things about the Schreyer Honors College that appeals to me. Honors courses require me to think more critically and divergently about things and help me to develop ideas and opinions on whatever the subject may be. Right now, my honors course options are somewhat limited, however being admitted into the Schreyer Honors College would expand my choices and help ignite my creative spark, as well as broaden my horizons

I know that admission into the Schreyer Honors College is not necessary for me to gain study abroad and internship opportunities, however, I am aware that these are hallmarks of many Schreyer Scholars. I can promise that I am driven to take part in these opportunities and will do anything necessary to make these happen for me. Undergraduate research is another reason as to why I am seeking admittance into the Schreyer Honors College. Again, I know that my membership is not necessary for this opportunity. However, thanks to the aforementioned honors courses and study abroad experiences, I feel that my research thesis can be something that is very unique to me and something that the Schreyer Honors College has never seen a student study before, probably like most students. I am essentially seeking to conduct my own research and make a difference for Penn State and myself, and I will work above and beyond what is expected of me to make this happen. As I hope you can see, I desire to be a part of Schreyer to enhance my own life and make a difference to Penn State, as opposed to any special recognition. My membership into the Schreyer Honors College will be the drive that I need to succeed academically and work towards my goals. I know that I will be a positive addition to the
