My aim was to find out why people go to watch sci-fi movies? what captivates them the most? And how often do they watch sci-fi movies? So I prepared an appropriate questionnaire and distributed them equally amongst both genders and to people between the age groups of 7-40+. The result which I got cleared my doubts.
The males love watching Sci-fi movies which are a hybrid of sci-fi and action. Most of them prefer to watch the movie in 3D animation as it gives a realistic effect which makes it exciting to watch. They especially love the special effects and innovative ideas which are used in movies that involve robots. If they were given the chance then they would like to add the feature of 4D animation to these films. When asked about how often do they watch sci-fi films; their reply was that since good sci-fi films don’t release often they barely go once or twice to watch a sci-fi movie but they would love to watch this genre more often.
The ladies presented a different viewpoint, they too love watching sci-fi films but they prefer watching films which are a hybrid of science fiction and romance. The special effects, high-tech technology and the storyline captivate them the most. Nearly half of them love the presence of an robot in the movies. Interestingly they too would like to add the feature of 4D animations if given the chance and want good sci-fi movies to release more often.
Their preferred actor and actress for sci-fi films on a large scale were Leonardo Dicaprio, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.
This questionnaire will help me create an appropriate story line which is going to be liked by the audience and will be a Blockbuster. It will also help me decide which actors and actresses I should use in my film who will appeal to the audience.
