Students who are on the Olympiad Team will need to be dedicated to their success. This means attending all practices and meetings and committing to studying their events at home. Students will work out a practice schedule with their coach that fits everyone’s schedules.
To tryout for the Science Olympiad Team, you will need to participate in the mini-Olympiad. You have the opportunity to tryout in 5 events. You may not tryout for more than 5 events. You MUST pick at least 2 events from Category 1, at least 1 event from Category 2, and at least 1 event from Category 3. Your 5th event can be from any of the three categories. Look at the event rules on One Note and choose wisely what events to tryout for. You will earn points based on how well you do. Increase your chance for success by trying out for events in which you will be successful.
On the back is the schedule for the mini-Olympiad. All tryouts will take place on Thursday and Friday October 17-18. If you have a conflict with either of these dates, please consult the Mrs. Zhou as soon as possible to arrange an alternate time if possible. Use your web resources to help prepare for the event tryouts. Come on time and be prepared. Try your hardest and have fun!
For Category 2 events, you will pick a team (2 people) and design a plan. Your detailed plan (including but not limited to: what materials you plan to use, sketches of the prototype, timetable, and what will make your product successful) will be due at 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 17.
