They believe we are fragmented from God. First we must understand what they think God is, to a scientologist God is known as the eighth dynamic. The eighth dynamic is a set of principles they follow that help them achieve a higher level of survival or higher level of oneness.These principles begin with self, creativity, group survival, species, life forms, physical universe, spiritual dynamic, and infinity. Once they complete one dynamic they are allowed to move on to the next dynamic or level.To them God and their identity is simply becoming infinity or becoming the best you can be.
Now we can understand a scientologist purpose in life, the Thetan. The Thetan is when the soul or energy controls the mind and the physical universe. The Thetan itself is creation and life. They believe we must simply get rid of all engrams. Engrams are a certain type of picture stored in our minds. When these engrams are stored in our minds they will eventually resurface subconsciously, this is known as awakening the engram. This can be avoided by becoming clear, when this happens a person can think for themselves and will have a better chance of becoming one again. A few techniques were developed by Ron Hubbard and are said to be very effective they include different clearing courses and an auditory repeater technique.
Lastly is truth knowable to scientologist? Scientologist believe that there is knowable truth through experience. The truth to a scientologist is to survive and become the best being they can be. The better one lives his life is the truth to him. Pain, sadness, and regret are the truth to those who have failed to survive on a higher level, but success, joy, and pleasure are the results of becoming one and moving to a better spirit.
