2. I would prefer the visual of Persepolis over The Dark Knight Return .As a comic in general or graphic novel in particular, Persepolis may not have been The Dark Knight Returns, but it still had some really nice visuals. The thing that comes to mind is one where she drew an overhead view of cars fleeing from flames as a visual explanation of reaction to the Iraq-Iran war. I don't know what you consider to be an adequately-rated comic, but keep in mind that as a genre of comics, autobiographical and nonfiction comics have a much shorter history than superhero comics Artistically the novel was drawn the old fashioned way which is nice but more importantly the animated version was drawn the same way. Old fashioned felt tip pens. The amount of heart that went into the book is fantastic. Some of the visuals were gorgeous in some scenes and situations. Her drawing style also is not elaborate or meant to be realistic, in fact it is very simplistic.
