Screwtape Letter Reflection
Let me start by saying I really have enjoyed this class and have learned a lot and not been able to process some of the material because of the volume. I wish I could have had this class a long time ago because it would have helped me answer so many of the questions about my background and my faith in high school. So many students and teachers would ask me why I did not cut my hair or why I wore long skirts all the time and all I could tell them was it was what I believe is right. So of them also were curious about my church background and I simply did not know the answers to their questions. So many open doors for witnessing and so many opportunities lost. I only pray it will not be so in the future now that I have taken this class.

I especially enjoyed the Screwtape Letters excerpt you included in our notes. I am a huge C.S. Lewis fan and have listened to the Chronicles of Narnia so much I can quote much of the radio theatre dramatization. I have not listen to or read the Screwtape Letters in entirety and I found the theories of evil easier to grasp after reading the letter you included in our notes. I love to read fictional works that have theology and philosophy woven into the story because it is usually easier for me to grasp an abstract theological or philosophical idea when an illustration or story is given. I understand now more than ever that one has to be careful how far they take illustration because in many concepts such as the Trinity the allegory eventually breaks down, but it helps me wrap my mind around some concepts better. I found it interesting to discuss these theories in class and mull them over in one’s mind because will you may never reach a black and white theory or decision it helps you to see where other peoples view points and world views come from and to present holiness Christianity in a more favorable …show more content…
I find it interesting that while the Middle Eastern societies rejected God they clearly could not erase religion from their societies, so in order to have political power and explain natural phenomena and the age old philosophical questions like where humans came from they invented stories that their leaders were gods or simply made up stories about gods. However in all of them except the biblical account of creation all their gods were no morally better than humans and the leading political regimes often changed the creation story to show they had power. My favorite illustration was the one you included on the handout about finding a wimple widget in your garden and trying to explain how it worked and why. I just love the word picture and the description wimple widget.

Lewis is perceived as a classical writer. He has shown a side to mankind that really was never meant to read I feel. In the way he brought this story to life it was like it escaped somehow from hell and brought to the public eye in a sense. So now because this was brought to people attention they know more about the temptations in life. C.S. Lewis brought that to life the things the devil does not want people to know about. The things that make us or break us from our faith and make them turn their backs on their own faith. The Screwtape Letters is a very insightful book that challenges people to think outside the box. It Challenges their assumptions about the world and eternity. C.S. Lewis points out valid points about the way people think today and how human behave every day. The Screwtape Letters was a book brought to the world way before its time C.S. Lewis came up with an amazing story to bring out the way people are tempted and also to see it in the other way so to speak. If I were to sum up what I have learned from this course it would be focused on Faith and a new understanding of the Bible. Faith is not just part of religion but every aspect of our everyday lives, and is fascinatingly carried through the Bible from the beginning to the end. It began with the Creation, and continued throughout the Fall, Redemption, and Consummation of Christ. It is the foundation of the Christian perspective and what leads God’s people to salvation and good works. Our modern world is so corrosive to faith that Jesus Christ asked, "When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8). He is there to give his people the gift of faith and to help them to grow in living faith that will last forever.…

To numerous readers’ surprise, many people say this Christian author confuses readers and fights everything the Bible stands for. One of these people wrote, “C.S. Lewis is perhaps the biggest FRAUD in Christianity today and accepted by many Christians... C. S. Lewis was a brazen heretic and must be shunned by every Christ-loving Christian.”() Although this is an extreme example, this source is not alone in questioning the validity of Lewis writings. Another person wrote concerned with Lewis’ teachings by saying, “Lewis’ books are mostly aimed at children, and he uses demonic devices to lead them into the dangerous realm of the occult.”() Readers will see this with the Screwtape Letters. The entire book is written from a demons perspective, instructing the inexperienced demons in destroying human’s lives. This fact is clearly and obviously validated by the content of many of Mr. Lewis’ books; however, he portrays magic as dark, evil, and something to be avoided. While these clams are partially true, Lewis’ writings clearly show the evil of magic, thus allowing him to write on this topic without encouraging this practice.…

Motor unit recruitment is the sequential activation of motor units to perform a certain task. In this lab we examined motor unit recruitment and muscle fatigue by electromyography (EMG) with dynamometry (DYN). When the motor unit in the muscle is activated signals are then generated, which result in muscle contraction. The impulse generated are a bit weak, yet can still be detected by the electrodes, EMG and is coupled by a measurements of power, DYN. When all the motor units reach its maximum strength the muscles will fatigue. Finally, the objectives of this lab were to determine the maximum clench strength for the right and left hand. To observe, record and correlate motor unit recruitment with increase power of skeletal muscle contraction. As well, as to record the force produces by the clenching muscles and integrated EMG during fiber recruitment and inducing fatigue.…
