Scribe Personal Statement

I further explored my interest in medicine by becoming an Emergency Department scribe. As a scribe, I learned to work on a team with medical professionals and to incorporate effective communication to ensure the correct medical orders were placed. I was trained to write patient's medical narratives while also extracting vital information to place clinical orders in advance which decreased wait time for treatment. Scribing has taught me that I am capable of working long hours while also remaining alert with each interaction and how to work effectively and professionally when given a restricted time limit.
