Components of a formal SDLC process:
There is a variety of ways that an organization can develop an information system; in which they are used to support the functions of the organization. According to Satzinger, Jackson, & Burd (2009) “During the life of an information system, it is first conceived as an idea; then it is designed, built, and deployed during a development project; and finally it is put into production and used to support the business” (pg. 38). There are many different approaches used when it comes to developing a system, in which no one system encompasses all of the different approaches. Predictive and adaptive are two approaches used in the system development life cycle. A predictive approach is planned and organized well in advance and is useful for systems that well understood and defined. An adaptive approach is more flexible as the project cannot be planned out in advance and can be modified as the project progresses.
