Search for the Best Business Idea and Development Award (BIDA) 2012
The experience I had with BIDA was really something beyond words. I’ve been through a lot of hardships, sacrifices and stresses but I can say that it’s all worth it. I have had a great honor working with our Saluyot Team; working closely with everyone was very fun, rewarding, and it allowed me to learn a lot more than I thought I would.
I truly enjoyed each baking days we’ve had, as well as making the papers needed for our business proposal. It allowed me to develop my patience and perseverance. I learned a lot each day as we do our best to finish and submit our papers. I was also able to talk with our professors and accountants which inspired me and allowed me to appreciate all the work they do every day.
Although the week before the final judging was tiring and overwhelming at times, it was the smiles on our professors, families, friends and classmates’ faces that put all the physical exhaustion away. Their support and help really inspired us to strive harder for the success of our college. The value of all the work done is inexplicable. I am really proud and grateful to be part of this team. Being able to contribute my knowledge and skills is the least I could do.
It was also very delightful to see the bridge of communication, cooperation and hard work being connected between the two teams, namely our Saluyot Team and the CBA Team. I had the honor of translating the many thanks, respectful words and appreciations between us, allowing such valuable communications to take place.
In such a short time, the team became a family, a group of friends that supports one another and works very well together. These are the little things that added to the great outcomes we have had. Building relationships, cooperating and working towards one great goal is very rewarding.
Being a finalist and 3rd runner up is one of the many things I will always remember from this experience. All our hard work was rewarded at the end. I know this would not be possible without the persons behind our success, our advisers, professors and loved ones, who gave their support and help in every possible way they can. I would also like to give thanks to Almighty God for giving us guidance and wisdom all the way. Whatever happens in the future, I know I will carry this experience with me and all the things I’ve learned from it.

Throughout the project, I have had a phenomenal time. The beginning of the project allowed me to understand how most of the things that assist people today came about, and how we could change the world through the designs we build. The step by step design process allowed us to seek opportunities to help people by looking at the pains, looking at what has been done in the past to solve the pains, then addressing the pains through engineering design methods. The organizational board design was not the first design I wanted to work on, but I am glad that it was the project I worked on. I originally came up with an idea for organizing paperwork at StoneCrest, but nobody jumped onto the design. Then, since there was only a group of two people, and the group I chose to be with originally had five, I ended up joining Jake and Morgan and forming Simplex Solutions. We were able to work together and take various skills of ours, which included CAD, presentation, and machining, and create a design that brought organization to StoneCrest medical center.…

However, because the communication of progress and status was done in a regular and systematic fashion, and because the team members worked well together, everyone did feel an obligation not to the let their team mates down, or to let any one player carry the weight on their own. Everyone chipped in and was committed, if not to the success of the Project, at least the success and survival of the collective. This in the end ensured the success of the Project.…

Overall, this experience was very rewarding because we created nothing into something and as a result our project helped families who generally have lower incomes have the necessary school supplies for their children to be successful in school without forcing them to give up something else up. This project has opened my eyes to things happening around me and allowed me to become a more active and engaged community member while I was able to delve deeper into something that I'm interested and passionate…

My most significant experience in working as a part of team occurred when I was apart of the softball team. Without my teammates I wouldn’t have learned all that I know now about softball today. I was familiar with the softball players. We helped each other improve, whether it was with running, practicing drills, catching, or throwing. We never left a teammate behind. During practices we all ran as a team. During games we also chanted when the batter hit the ball. With out my team I wouldn’t have been as good as a softball player. So to me with teamwork come new friends and wonderful coaches.…

I loved the curriculum and thrived in the smaller environment. Learning about the healthcare field and preparing to play a role in helping people achieve wellness was exciting. That the curriculum dovetailed nicely with the things I had already been studying in business, and that I wouldn’t have to touch anyone were two great bonuses.…

This was very exciting to me because not only was this held outside, but because I knew that for one of those awards my name was going to be called. To me, things like this helps to encourage and motivate students to always do their best and strive for excellence. Acknowledging students’ hard work and dedication is what we sometimes need to know that it’s not all for nothing. What we do is really appreciated. Even though school was fun and exciting, there were times when I enjoyed being away from school. In elementary, we took many exciting field trips. From theme parks to zoos to museums, we went. This was another very exciting moment for me because growing up with my grandparents I never experienced those things outside of school. So they made sure that when a field trip came up, I attended. Then tragedy hit. My grandmother, the woman who raised me from a baby had passed away. I felt as though I had lost my mother. My backbone was gone and a piece of me left with her. I still had my grandfather so I continued to press forward. I have always been an academically bright…

Last summer, I had the opportunity to be an intern at an international pharmaceutical company Schering. It was a great opportunity for me to experience what it was really like to work in a firm. I helped with the AOCR 2006, a radiology exhibition sponsored by Schering. I enjoyed every moment of it, and I hope that in the future, I could be the one in charge of a project like that. There was a lot of preparation needed before the exhibition, and it was not an easy job. Yet, when the whole exhibition was over and turned out to be a success, it gave me huge satisfaction, especially when I had tried my best to help out.…
