Second Interview Reflection

When conducting my second interview, from the start I felt more confidence. The material covered in class and the checklist provided was such a helpful guidance in the attempt to improve my second interview. Having a longer time constraint was also a great idea because it gave me time to actually get to know my client and the situation, without missing the miner details of the problem at hand. Throughout my video I practice the skills that were taught like, conveying empathy and genuiness. I made sure at all-time my client felt comfortable, not judged, and had a safe place to openly speak. I’m dealing with a client with a lot of trust issue, mental, and physical abuse, so I wanted to make sure that the one place she reach out for help, would work at their best of her ability to give her the proper resources and help needed. I also, used questions to reassure that what she was feeling was correct. I never assume that she felt a certain way without
I had learned more tools and skills to help keep a flowing dialogue. I learned rephrasing what clients has told us help the client understand that as a social worker I was listening and the information I’m taking in is correct. I believe I did a great job with using clarifying statement to check to see if I was correct on the information given to me. I build a safe place for my client and she open up to my without leaving out to many details of her devastating story. Overall, I think I played my social work role well and my client had something to believe in. My client had faith that next time we meet I would have figured out options for her housing and one of her issues would be solved. I did not cross any boundaries and I only offered ideas that fit with my client. I asked multiple times, if what I was doing was correct and my client gave me reissuance that I was doing just
