Target Behavior
Target Behavior: My target behavior is to save $1000 to go to California this summer.
a. What are some changes I need to make for a more positive future?
Answer: I need to spend less on shopping. Most of my money goes to spending on unnecessary things, so I will attempt to save more than spending.
b. Why do I want to make these changes?
Answer: I want to make this change because then, I’d save so much more and I would allow myself to have more to spend when I’m on vacation!
c. What specific behavior do I wish to change?
Answer: I’d like to change my internet surfing behavior. I must spend more time doing something else besides looking up clothes and shoes!
d. How will I attempt to change this target behavior?
Answer: I will only use my computer when I need to attend my online classes and homework. Besides that, I won’t allow myself to be on the computer as much as before so that I can prevent myself from online shopping.
e. How will I monitor what is happening? In other words, what will I count or measure each day?
Answer: Each day, I will count how many hours I am able to stay away from my computer. I will allow myself only class time and homework time. The more I cut down on the computer, the more I save!
f. At what times or in which situations does my target behavior occur more frequently? Less frequently?
Answer: My habit of online shopping occurs during the night time when I have nothing better to do. It occurs less when I’m working. At times, I get too busy working that I forget that I have a computer!
g. What self-talk am I using that causes this behavior to occur or not occur?
Answer: I tell myself that California is a very beautiful place to visit. I have plenty of clothes already, I must motivate myself to work more and save so that I can have fun in the end. Hard work pays off in the end.
h. What specific behaviors can I identify that will help me reach my target behavior goal?
Answer: I can easily
