The World Health Organization reported that the United States spends eight hundred billion dollars annually on its traffic injuries and fatalities. These funds could be put to much better use if less accidents were happening on the road. According to the Department of Transportation in 2012, a statistical life is worth 9.2 million and there were 30,800 fatal vehicular deaths in the United States(Ozimek). With autonomous cars being twice as safe as regular ones, one hundred and thirty-eight million dollars as well as countless non-fatal accidents could have been saved and prevented. These resources would allow the U.S. to put its money back into the pockets of its
citizens and solve other national issues. There are numerous benefits of autonomous vehicles that are yet to be realized and utilized in the economy and daily life.
